SEATTLE’S GILLY WAGON HIRES AWARD-WINNING BARTENDER ABIGAIL GULLO AS DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY FOR BARTENDER’S CIRCLE

0

Amy Faulkner, founder of event company, Gilly Wagon, is pleased to announce the appointment of noteworthy bartender Abigail Gullo to her team as Director of Industry.  Gullo brings her skills, expertise and cleverness to curate Bartender’s Circle– a free, bar industry program that will offer a framework for independent bartenders and those in the hospitality industry to collectively encourage each other through education, events and peer collaboration.

Gullo worked as a bartender at top bars in New York City (The Beagle and Fort Defiance), later moving to New Orleans to open SoBou for the famed Commander’s Palace family of restaurants in the French Quarter. She moved to the other side of Canal Street to open the lauded Compere Lapin with Chef Nina Compton and Ricky Gomez. While there, the bar won Best Hotel bar in America from the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards and she received a top ten nomination for Best American Bartender. Abigail’s original cocktails have been recognized in numerous national and international competitions. Her cocktails have been featured in The New York Times, Imbibe, Garden & Gun among others and she appeared on NPR’s On Point as an expert in her field and the Today show as a weekly guest bartender. She is a member of the United States Bartenders Guild, LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) and a proud supporter of the Museum of the American Cocktail in New Orleans. Says Abigail: “I’m excited for our community to come together as a worldwide audience to learn, taste and prop up one another. With Bartender’s Circle, we’re building an inclusive place for our wildly witty circle of global beverage professionals.”

Faulkner is thrilled to have Abigail join her at Gilly Wagon: “I’ve been involved with bartenders and bar owners for some time. I hear about the kinds of programs they would like to access as an industry. Abigail has a lot of fantastic experience. She is well-respected and she has a great perspective on the education that is needed.”

Four core initiatives will be the pillars of Bartender’s Circle:

Industry Education
: Bartender’s Circle will curate industry-focused education for bartenders working with some of the trade’s biggest talent as they share their tips, tricks and techniques.

Bartender’s Circle Podcast: The podcast will cover everything from new products to busting myths behind the bar.

Bartender’s Circle Summit: The Bartender’s Circle Summit will happen annually during Seattle Cocktail Week and provide those in the industry with education taught by the leading experts in the industry.

Online Community: Bartender’s Circle has established a channel for members to connect for peer-to-peer communication.

Wisconsin Officer Allegedly Caught On Camera Planting Drugs On Black Man | National

0

A Black man is accusing a Wisconsin police officer of trying to plant drugs on him during a traffic stop and alleges to have video to prove it. The man, who goes by GlockBoy Savoo on Facebook, posted a now-viral video showing what appears to be a traffic stop in progress and captures a potentially incriminating moment.

According to TMZ, the officer is from the Caledonia Police Department and approaches the car quickly while tossing something into the back seat. The person taking the video, who appears to be Savoo, questions what it was.

The camera person then jumps into the back seat for a close-up shot of what appears to be a little baggie, possibly of drugs. The clip is only 16 seconds in length.

“First time ever seeing a cop try to throw sum on me just to get reason to search the car💯 he ain’t even know I was recording 💯 you can tell he was nervous 💯,” Savoo captioned his Facebook post.

The Village of Caledonia Police Department has responded via Facebook, issuing a statement claiming they’ll be spearheading a full investigation, including pulling body camera footage, dash cam video and officer testimony from all law enforcement who were at the scene.

Christopher Botsch, Caledonia’s Chief of Police, also added: “Please keep in mind that the cell phone video that is circulating depicts only a small portion of the entire encounter; whereas, all available video may provide more context. The Caledonia Police Department believes strongly in transparency; therefore, all body worn camera video will be made available within the coming days.”

ROOM FOR US by L.M. HALLORAN

“Love doesn’t care about timing or whether we’re ready for it. It shows up when it wants, where it wants and asks only one thing of us – to be brave. And if you’re brave, no matter what happens, you’ll know that you chose love, and you won’t have any regrets.”

We’ve missed L.M. Halloran’s stories, and it’s wonderful to have her back, delivering an emotional and heartbreaking story, which, as avid readers of this authors work, we could feel, came from straight from her heart.

Room for Us is a story of trust, love and second chances, and as we hung on every word, we experienced the hope, despair, laughter, tears, happiness and heartbreak and the turmoil and growth of the characters in this very moving story.

As his pseudonym, E.M. Hart, 36-year-old Ethan Hart is a famous, much-loved author, lacking the inspiration to write a final book in his world-famous fantasy series. Feeling the pressure from his publisher and readership for the final instalment, Ethan heads to Sun River, Idaho to decompress and hopefully get the writing juices flowing.

‘I see everything in his eyes – the deep schisms of pain, the sweet desire.’

Zoey Humphries is the new owner of Rose House in Sun River. A quaint B&B left to her by her Aunt Barb who had recently passed. Zoey has fled New York, leaving behind a failed seven-year marriage, which has left her full of self-doubt.

The grouchy author and the eager to please Zoey bash heads, attempt to fight off ever-growing chemistry and passion, and deal with baggage from their past. Ethan’s eight-year-old daughter Daphne provides the moments where we realise the heart beneath the crotchety Ethan.

‘I came to her wrapped in the chains of self-delusion and lifelong angst, and each day in her presence broke another of my bonds.’

Room for Us was at times a little maudlin, especially Zoey which did get a little tiresome at times, however, the occupants of Sun River and little Daphne provided the respite when needed. The passion and chemistry were sizzling, the writing was almost poetic, and the characters showed a lot of growth, strength and vulnerability.

‘I’ve never met anyone who thinks like him, talks like him. Makes love like him – with a whole-being intensity that gives back just as much as it consumes.’
