Naples Grande Beach Resort Appoints New Executive Chef
Naples Grande Beach Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Marcos Seville as the new Executive Chef.
Marcos Seville is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY. An active member of C-CAP, the largest independent culinary / hospitality scholarship program in the country, Seville had accepted a scholarship to attend CIA and joins the Naples Grande Beach Resort team with an exceptional culinary education.
With an extensive background in hospitality that spans over a decade with leading properties, Seville’s culinary journey includes time at the Arizona Biltmore, the Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa, The Peabody Orlando (now known as the Hyatt Regency Orlando), and the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia.
As the Executive Chef at Naples Grande Beach Resort, Seville oversees operations of the resort’s six restaurants, including The Catch of the Pelican, and the lobby level lounge, Mantra.
“I am honored to join the exceptional culinary team here at Naples Grande Beach Resort,” said Seville. “An iconic resort in Florida and the Naples community, I am excited to share my passion for exquisite taste and bring in new flavors and dishes that will elevate the property’s dining experiences to a new level.”
At the property’s signature restaurant, The Catch of the Pelican, Chef Seville is looking to heighten guests’ dining experience, by giving the flagship restaurant a luxury feel without the fine dining cost. Seville plans to expand the menu by cultivating new dishes inspired by Florida’s Caribbean influence. Fresh and local ingredients will highlight a Floridian menu featuring fine seafood and dried aged steaks.
Having arrived from the West Coast, Seville is interested in immersing himself with the East Coast palate and specifically the lively Florida food scene. Seville is also looking to incorporate more fun, immersive dining experiences, including cooking classes, special tastings, cupcake decorating, and pizza making, where he and his team can interact and engage with guests daily.
A Phoenix native, Seville has settled in the Naples area with his wife and four children and is looking forward to sharing his talents with the community at Naples Grande Beach Resort.
Mike Colter Still Doesn’t Have Closure Over Luke Cage Cancellation
When Luke Cage debuted on Netflix in 2016, it quickly became one of the most popular shows on the streaming platform and one of the most popular shows of Marvel’s series on Netflix. However, Luke Cage – along with other Marvel shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, and Iron Fist – were eventually canceled, something that star Mike Colter says he still hasn’t gotten over.

Speaking to Collider in a new interview regarding Paramount+’s psychological mystery series Evil, Colter was asked about his time on Luke Cage and said he was upset to have never gotten any type of closure for the role.
“To be honest, no, it didn’t give me a chance to have any closure,” Colter said. “There were so many places we could have taken it. There’s obviously the Alias series where Jessica and Luke had a child and had this adult life they were trying to live, and there’s this moment where they are working out their blue-collar, making ends meet life together, which is very interesting.”
Colter went on to say that there were many other journeys that Cage could have gone on and that this kind of thing is simply something that happens in the world of television sometimes.
“There’s the journey that Luke had in his own series with Harlem’s Paradise, where he’s taken over the club and is he gonna be a bad guy or a guy that is on the other side of the law, and who’s gonna stop him. That was another interesting thing to watch, with him maybe being a little gangster, and that would’ve been cool too. So, I don’t think there’s any closure to it, nor do I feel like we were able to get any of that closure by having the appearance in Jessica Jones, but it is what it is. It’s one of those things where we’ll just never know. There are a lot of shows that live in that space where it’s like, ‘Oh, man!’ It’s unfortunate, but that’s just one of the things that happens in television sometimes.”

Colter also touched on the fact that while it was a bit bittersweet to have that premature goodbye with Luke Cage, there are some positive aspects to it as well, including the fact that people will always have a special and fond memory of the show.
“The positive thing about something like that is you’ll always have a fond memory of something that didn’t stay too long. It’s like a relationship or anything else that never reached its peak or its descent. You don’t have any negative memories of it because it will live in this place of perfection, or some sense of promise, at all times in our life. It’s a fond, romanticized notion of what could have been.”
Deftones and Gojira Postpone Tour to 2022
Deftones and Gojira have once again rescheduled their joint tour dates. Originally set for 2020, and then announced for 2021 this past April, the North American trek will now begin April 2022 in Portland, OR.
“This is not an easy decision, but one we felt necessary,” Deftones wrote in an statement. “Giving this tour a little more breathing room will give space to, and help ensure we can make every date with confidence. We can’t thank you enough for your patience so far, and keeping with it just a bit longer.” Find the new dates below.
Deftones released their ninth album Ohms last fall. Earlier this year, frontman Chino Moreno jumped on the Trippie Redd song “GERONIMO.”
