The Right Stuff: Cancelled by Disney+; Season Two Being Shopped – canceled + renewed TV shows

0

The Right Stuff TV show on Disney+: canceled, no season 2

(National Geographic/Gene Page)

“The eagle has
” been grounded, at least for now. Disney+ has cancelled The Right Stuff TV series. It’s the first cancellation by the streaming service but season two is being shopped elsewhere.

A drama series based on the bestselling book by Tom Wolfe, The Right Stuff stars Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Colin O’Donoghue, James Lafferty, Aaron Staton, Michael Trotter, Micah Stock, Patrick Fischler, Eric Ladin, Nora Zehetner, Shannon Lucio, and Eloise Mumford.

The first season of eight episodes, released in October and November, provides an inspirational look into the early days of the U.S. Space Program and the iconic story of America’s first astronauts, the Mercury 7 — Major John Glenn (Adams), Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard (McDorman), Captain Gordo Cooper (O’Donoghue), Wally Schirra (Staton), Scott Carpenter (Lafferty), Deke Slayton (Stock), and Gus Grissom (Trotter).

Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the series, is shopping a potential second season to other outlets. Deadline reports that the cast options expire today and the studio has asked for a two-week extension. Talks had reportedly been underway with Disney about what a second season could look like and one idea would focus on a new mission from the 1980s which would have likely have meant a new cast.

There’s apparently a big financial reason for the studio to want to keep making The Right Stuff.  In November, the series was given a $13.7 million incentive to move production from Florida to California for a second season. It’s the fourth-highest relocation incentive ever awarded under the California Film Commission program.

What do you think? Have you watched The Right Stuff TV series on the Disney+ service? Would you like to see a second season, potentially with a new cast and mission?

Bruce Campbell Shares Joke Script Page From Doctor Strange Sequel

Bruce Campbell Shares Joke Script Page from Doctor Strange Sequel

Bruce Campbell shares joke script page from Doctor Strange sequel

As if the 62-year-old acting legend teasing his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel earlier this month wasn’t enough, Bruce Campbell took to Twitter to share a script page from the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness indicating his appearing as the fan-favorite horror icon Ash Williams from The Evil Dead franchise. While it’s entirely likely that Campbell is in the film in some capacity, given his friendship and long-running collaborative relationship with director Sam Raimi and cameos in Raimi’s previous superhero efforts Darkman and the Spider-Man trilogy, some calendar-eyed fans pointed out it is in fact April 1, aka April Fool’s Day, and the actor fooled some fans last year with a fake poster for a sequel series to The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. at Netflix.

Given the current date, a number of grammatical errors and even the page’s number of 69, it seems highly unlikely it’s a real page from the script — especially as it would get Campbell and Raimi in big trouble with the House of Mouse — but if it turns out to be real, longtime fans of the duo and the horror genre are sure in for a treat!

Continuing the story put forth by Disney+’s WandaVision and Loki and in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Sorcerer Supreme, Multiverse of Madness‘ plot details are being kept under wraps but will see the Dr. Stephen Strange forced to step away from his research into the Time Stone as he must face off against a friend-turned-enemy and accidentally unleashes an unspeakable evil.

The MCU sequel was originally set to have Scott Derrickson step back into the director’s chair with Jade Bartlett penning the script, though due to creative differences Derrickson departed and Raimi signed on to direct with Loki head writer Michael Waldron also signing on for rewrites.

Alongside Cumberbatch, the film will see the returns of Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) as Dr. Christine Palmer, Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Lion King) as Karl Mordo and Benedict Wong (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Wong, with Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role of Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlett Witch, and Xochitl Gomez set to star as America Chavez, known in the comics as Miss America and the first Latin-American LGBTQ+ character to star in an ongoing series.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.

The first Doctor Strange was released in 2016 with Cumberbatch starring in the titular role alongside Ejiofor as Mordo, McAdams as Christine, Wong as Wong, Mads Mikkelsen as villain Kaecilius and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, whose origins were changed to being of Celtic origin for the film instead of the comics’ East Asian origins.

Jauz Selected to Make Cameo in Upcoming ‘Jaws’ Movie Reboot

0

Jauz is set to make his big screen debut in a future reboot of the 1975 cult classic, Jaws.

To celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary, Jaws 5 is most definitely happening and Jauz will make a cameo. However, considering the production is still in its very early stages, the nature of his appearance is unknown.

Will he perform an underwater DJ set? Will his legs get ripped off by the monstrous shark? The suspense is killing us

Director Steven Spielberg actually saw Jauz live on his Dangerous Waters tour and made the connection while under the influence of psychedelics. He later did some research and dug up JAUZ’s old “Jaws Theme” bootleg, which will serve as the movie’s theme.

0:00 – Introduction
If you want to improve your skills by listening to one of the greatest jazz drummers of the last 50 years, look no further than Elvin Jones. He was most notably the drummer for The John Coltrane Quartet in the ’60s – recording on many of Coltrane’s iconic albums – and worked with many different musicians over the course of his career, which spanned an impressive six decades.

In this lesson, Brandon will show you some of Elvin’s signature grooves. When learning these, keep in mind that he was largely improvising when recording, so you don’t need to play it note for note. Make it your own!

If you want to play along just click the link below to download a pack of drumless MP3s.

0:48 – Groove #1
In the opening section from John Coltrane’s Acknowledgement, you’ll hear quarter notes on the ride while the left hand moves between a cross-stick on the snare and the toms.

04:21 – Groove #2
In the same song where Coltrane comes in with the tenor sax, a syncopated 16th note (Mozambique) pattern picks up on the bell.

10:01 – Groove #3
Elvin Jones plays this Afro Waltz – a jazz waltz pattern with Afro-Cuban influences – on many different recordings. You can really hear his signature groove in the dotted quarter notes on the bass drum.

15:23 – Final Thoughts
If you enjoy grooves like these, check out “Passion Dance” by McCoy Tyner, “The Night Has A Thousand Eyes” by The John Coltrane Quartet, “Night And Day” by Joe Henderson, and “Zoltan” by Larry Young.
