Superman: Legacy director James Gunn has posted a behind-the-scenes photo following a table read of the DC Universe movieâs script.
On Instagram, Gunn posted a photo of himself with the cast of Superman: Legacy with the caption, âAfter the table read with the #Superman cast. Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.â
You can see his Instagram post and the photo below:
The titular role in Superman: Legacy is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. Theyâre joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, MarĂa Gabriela De FarĂa, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The film is set to release on July 11, 2025.
What will Superman: Legacy be about?
âSuperman: Legacy tells the story of Supermanâs journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,â reads the movieâs official synopsis. âHe is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.â
YEDM introduced K4LT as a new artist in July 2023, with his pensive, ambient track called âLCPDâ. It was a follow-up to his first EP, Endgame, and was two years in the making as well as a departure from his original style. Now focused more on electronic production, âLCPDâ has seen an intriguing amount of buzz, both from the industry and fans. Audiences are put on notice, however, not to settle into the dreamy, celestial vibe of âLCPDâ. A very different mood is incoming with K4lTâs latest track, âThis Room (Reprise)â.
The Belin-based K4LT, whose artist name is a stylized version of the German word âkaltâ (trans. âcoldâ in English), has said his new rash of songs is a reflection of the isolation created by the COVID lockdowns and the struggle of people even now to remember how to socialize. âThis Room,â released early this month, with its pseudo-goth synth styling, relentless, quick-paced beat and the ennui and anxiety heavy in the lyrics, gives a disturbingly accurate picture of what many people are experiencing post-pandemic.
âŠthe experience of more and more of your friends (and probably yourself too a bit) turn into modern day hermits, giving up on parts of life like relationships or having fun in life at all. Just trying to make it without giving any efforts into what would make them truly happy. And the songwriter being afraid how that ends (reading the âlist of deaths per yearâ). In the end the song is about not accepting this defeats and fighting to get up, be motivated (âup to interfereâ).
âThis Room (Reprise)â is also meant to be throwback to a song of the same name by The Notwist, one of K4LTâs biggest influences. This is not a remix or a cover, but a complete re-imagining of the track, as The Notwistâs original is more directly shoegaze and post punk with some interesting vintage and experimental interludes, which might remind some fans of mid-era Radiohead or Death Cab for Cutie merging with Venetian Snares. Refreshingly honest about naming his influences and inspirations, K4LTâs version is both a continuation of the original tone of the track and a reversal. Where The Notwistâs original is soft, vulnerable and largely rock-based, K4LTâs reprise semi-industrial and itchy, pacing, impatient, bordering on frustrated. A contrary statement to the original, but no less impactful.
Perhaps âThis Room (Reprise)â meant to show the difference in the way we manage relationships and interact with each other since the lockdown. Rather than focusing on a relationship and where itâs going, weâre constantly looking outward whilst staying inward, not satisfied but not willing to do anything about it. A tech-driven futility and an inability to process emotions through relationships â or even at all â stamps this track. That itch is there though, K4LT warns, and itâs ready to break the surface, the portends of the last line repeated before the song cuts off: ââŠup to interfere; up to interfere.â
âThis Room (Reprise)â is out now and available to stream along with K4LTâs other works on Spotify. They can also be purchased on Bandcamp.

âI like the old Kanye,â a line from a song that stuck in my head while I sat in the 405 gridlocks. Yet, it might have been in the gym, when I was about to finish my fourth set. It does not matter, but brings me to my point. I believe the old Kanye successfully paved the way for the new Ye, who seemed to pick up, where Prince left off, without the blessing from a billion corporate entities.
I became a believer in the invincibility of Kanye after watching his Netflix documentary. To me, he set himself to become a modern-day, musical MagellanâŠor better yet, a time traveler dispatched from the Planet Rock, gifting him the ability to solidify himself as musicâs Teflon Don, avoiding cancellation like an Iverson Crossover. Instead of a leather Spaulding, he used a crystal ball.
I remember when Kanye snatched Taylor Swiftâs airtime and reputation, besmudging the politics of the Grammys. Letâs not forget the time he claimed on National TV, âGeorge Bush hates black people!â Calling out, the then President, for fumbling Hurricane Katrina, as Mike Myers gawked on helplessly.
These words would be the death decree to any other Hip-Hop Mogul. But not the modern mastermind from the city with big shoulders. In my opinion, the old Kanye was a modern version of a Great Lakes Amadeus, leaving his mark buried into American culture – like an artifact to be studied by future generations.
The old Kanye could have stopped there. Maybe, he should have stopped there. Without pause, he brought his voice to any platform that provided a microphone and airtime. He delivered his well-crafted, tyrannical rants to the likes of: Sway, TMZ, and everywhere in between. Talking about everything from the failings of American Society, the evils of the music industry, and slavery. For anyone to even broach these topics, would have led to monumental career suicide, leading to a media hanging in the rafters of the Blogosphere.
Instead, Yeezy turned the media into his proverbial bottom bitch, who he forced to stand on the corner called public perception, while pimping the entertainment landscape without retracting one word, but instead doubling down, pointing out the mediaâs own bias led to his very comments they were reporting to the masses. The same media Kanye seemed to have in his grasp. If he eats, they ate!
Yeezy had the audacity to record a gospel album on the outskirts of Sodom and Gomorrah, hosting open-air masses like some sort of Calabasas LilâJohn the Baptist. Bringing Christianity to the city of sinful angels, was a no, no and should have put him in a monetary Camel Clutch. His marriage was constantly front and center to face the ridicule of the world. He stayed rigid in his stance, showing the center its finger to all trying to destroy his name. So, he changed it.
Then, came Ye. The new Kanye, but not Kanye any longer. Ye did the unspeakable, challenging the Jewish communityâs authenticity, calling himself a Jew self-affirming the black man was the original Jew. Allegedly, in his mind clearing the way for him to rail against members of the Jewish community that had done him wrong in the past, leaving Noriega speechless and sober. That very act seemed to spearhead the anti-Jewish movement of today, as the world wags its finger at Israel.
Finally, he had done it. Put the nails in his coffin. The only thing I could compare it to was the death of Superman. The immortal King of Hip Hop was dethroned waiting to be sent to a deep, dark dungeon â where no one would see or hear him. That dungeon was called cancellation. Ye was declared dead by the entertainment media
A small, smoldering ember started to burn at the Superbowl during Yeâs ad: simple and plain. Just a dark image on an iPhone with a basic improved tagline. He doesnât even look into the device because he knows we are watching â all of us. We canât take our eyes off him. Love him or hate him, we are listening to his every syllable. We are all captivated by his gold front that slightly gleamed as he mumbled, âwe spent all the money on the ad space, so we had no money for the adâ
Simplistic brilliance was what I witnessed leaking out of my cheap Android screen. A true savant had spoken again, pushing against the multi-million dollar commercials that dotted the plasma screen of the American, football-fandom.
The mega-influencer knew we would be watching. Heâs already entrenched into the subconscious of the subculture. Ye did it again. On the largest stage in America – he has again taken front and center, maybe trumping Taylor Swift once more – if only for the moment. Kelcie had to bump his coach to get significant air time. Ye just pulled out his phone.
Ye probably made minimalism the new thang. The less, the better. Maybe thatâs the future. The time traveler brought a message from the future via Planet Rock. We have already surrendered ourselves to him because we are still watching. Itâs very hard to get on any screen-big or small-yet, he was always there.
In the end: Why canât they cancel, Ye? He is a Deep-Dish Microchip embedded into our media-soaked minds. If you cancel, Ye â you cancel us – all of us.
