Checking In on the 18 Survivor Winners Who Skipped Season 40

0

While Todd expressed interest in returning during a Reddit AMA last year–saying “Of course i’d play again! A winners season would be rad or a winners vs. runners up”–the winner of Survivor: China is not one of the 20 castaways.

But after his win in 2007, Todd publicly struggled with alcoholism, appearing as a  frequent guest on the Dr. Phil Show. He made headlines in 2017 when he alleged to Stat and The Boston Globe that the producers of the show supplied him with alcohol and Xanax before carrying him out onto the stage during his infamous 2013 appearance, when he blew a .5 on a Breathalyzer test. (He appeared again in 2016, revealing he had relapsed.)

A rep for the show denied the claims, telling E! News, “The Stat article does not fairly or accurately describe the methods of Dr. Phil, the TV show, or its mission to educate millions of viewers about drug and alcohol addiction. The show does not give drugs or alcohol to its guests and any suggestions to the contrary is errant nonsense. “

Now sober, Todd is engaged and planning a November 2020 wedding. On the day of the season 40 premiere, he wrote on Instagram, “I may not be battling it out in winners at war but I’m so beyond grateful to be a part of this amazing show!”

I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student. Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep. I didn’t expect to develop feelings for him…” — Him: “There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment. Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball. After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much. The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too. Then she walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets. Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her. But sometimes things are too good to be true…”

Network: Starz
Episodes: 26 (hour)
Seasons: Three

TV show dates: April 30, 2017 — March 21, 2021
Series status: Cancelled

Performers include: Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Crispin Glover, Orlando Jones, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Jonathan Tucker, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, Demore Barnes, Corbin Bernsen, and Mousa Kraish.

TV show description:
A fantasy drama based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, the American Gods TV show centers Shadow Moon (Whittle), who accepts a job offer from the enigmatic conman known as Mr. Wednesday (McShane).

After completing his prison sentence, Shadow Moon encounters Mr. Wednesday and a storm blows in — one that will completely change his life.

Unmoored by the death of his wife, Laura (Browning), Shadow signs on as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard. Doing so escorts him into a strange reality he finds difficult to comprehend. In this secret world, gods and magic are real. The Old Gods are alarmed by the increasing potency of the New Gods — like Technical Boy (Langley).

Mr. Wednesday is a cunning if charming, old con man. In order to defend the existence of the Old Gods in the New World, he strikes out to form an alliance between them, so that they can defend themselves and restore some of their stature, significance, and sway.

Will he be able to recruit the ancient goddess of love, Bilquis (Bakaki)? Her hunger for adoration and devotion is far from sated in the current day.

A leprechaun whose luck has soured, Mad Sweeney (Schreiber) cannot understand how he lost his charisma, never mind his way. Still, it is fortunate he is always up for a brawl since that comes with the territory when one is in Mr. Wednesday’s employ.

Traversing the U.S. with Mr. Wednesday, Shadow wrestles with this new reality and his role in it.

Series Finale:
Episode #26 — Tears of the Wrath-Bearing Tree
Teetering on the edge of war and peace, the gods gather to mourn a loss; Bilquis’ divine journey brings her to an unexpected revelation; Shadow finally embraces destiny.
First aired: March 21, 2021.

What do you think? Do you like the American Gods TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?

Duffy New Song Something Beautiful

“Something Beautiful”

You bring me something beautiful
You bring me something divine, oh
You bring me, bring me
A new kind of wonderful
Bring me it all

But I, I
Can’t take the first steps to your love
So it leaves me only dreaming
Of something beautiful

You show me what I want
You show me, show me it all at once
So show me, show me a way to fix my mistakes
Show me this ain’t the greatest risk I ever take

Because I, I
Can’t take the first steps to your love
So it leaves me only dreaming
Of something beautiful

I don’t even know
Why I love you so
I don’t even know why

That I, I
Can’t take the first steps to your love
It leaves me only dreaming
Of something beautiful
Beautiful

Paramount's Paranormal Activity Reboot Sets Lead Cast

Paramount’s Paranormal Activity reboot sets lead cast

Just a month after it was announced that the forthcoming reboot of the hit horror franchise would be going straight to recently-rebranded Paramount+, Paramount’s latest Paranormal Activity film has built its cast with the additions of Emily Bader, Roland Buck III, Dan Lippert and Henry Ayers-Brown, according to The Wrap.

RELATED: William Eubank & Christopher Landon Team for Paranormal Activity Reboot

Plot details regarding the seventh installment in the series, which is being produced by Paramount Players, are currently being kept under wraps though sources have consistently reported that the film would not be a remake or a continuation but rather an “unexpected retooling” of the franchise that has come before. The film is being penned by Christoper Landon, who served as the primary screenwriter for the series having penned the script for the second through fourth entries and writing and directing the 2014 spin-off The Marked Ones, with William Eubank (Underwater) attached to direct.

The franchise hit its ten-year anniversary in 2019, with the first film having blown up at the domestic box office and setting the horror world ablaze with a newfound interest in the found footage genre, being produced on a budget of $15,000 dollars and grossing over $193 million worldwide.

Paranormal Activity was followed by five sequels, exploring the different corners of the vague mythos established in the first film and culminating in 2015’s 3D sequel, The Ghost Dimension. The six movies have brought in over $890 million worldwide, an impressive haul for their micro-budgets and setting the series up as one of the many fan favorite horror franchises in the mid 2000s.

Director Oren Peli helmed the original film in the franchise, and unsuccessfully tried to replicate the success of the film with other found footage projects like Chernobyl Diaries and Area 51 in theaters, plus The River on ABC. The franchise also attracted Catfish filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman who directed the third and fourth movies in the series.

The seventh Paranormal Activity was previously set to hit theaters on March 19 then slated for a March 4, 2022 release, though with its new Paramount+ debut it’s currently unknown if the film will keep this date.
