Chris Harrison Responds to Rumors That Katie Is the Next Bachelorette

13

Chris Harrison is addressing rumors that he announced the next Bachelorette during the recently filmed Women Tell All special.

The host of ABC’s dating franchise spoke to Rachel Lindsay for Extra on Tuesday, Feb. 9, and he claimed that Matt James‘ recent castoff Katie Thurston has not been named the new lead, despite media speculation to the contrary.

“We did not name her or anybody the next Bachelorette during the Women Tell All special. In fact, we didn’t even talk who was the next Bachelorette,” the host shared. “As far as I know, Katie, nobody has been named the next Bachelorette … and I promise you this, it will not be a part of the Tell All special at all.”

Chris explained that Katie will indeed be featured on the special, but that the topic of leading her own season did not come up.

“She was in the hot seat, as were several other women,” he continued. “I didn’t even ask her if she wanted to be the Bachelorette or even if she wanted to do that.”

Superstore: Season Six; NBC Sets Date for Sitcom’s Hour Series Finale – canceled + renewed TV shows

Superstore TV show on NBC: canceled, no season 7 (series finale date)

(Photo: Tina Thorpe/NBC)

The Cloud 9 store is closing its doors next month. NBC has announced that the Superstore TV series will wrap up with an hourlong series finale on Thursday, March 25th at 8:00 PM.

A workplace comedy series, Superstore stars Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Sakura, and Kaliko Kauahi. This sitcom revolves around the diverse and unique employees at a big-box megastore called Cloud 9. At the center is Jonah (Feldman), a passionate optimist always looking out for his co-workers. They include the sardonic Garrett (Dunn), the sweet and fun-loving Cheyenne (Sakura), and the perpetually dismissed Sandra (Kauahi). Back in the manager job is Glenn (McKinney), who once again finds himself butting heads with aggressive assistant manager Dina (Ash). Glenn is now assisted by Mateo (Santos), who’s pretty sure he would be running things by now if it weren’t for his undocumented status. From bright-eyed newbies to seen-it-all veterans to the clueless seasonal hires and the in-it-for-life managers, the crew tackles the day-to-day grind of rabid bargain hunters, riot-causing sales, and nap-worthy training sessions.

Airing on Thursday nights, the current sixth season of Superstore averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.33 million viewers. Compared to season five, that’s down by 32% in the demo and down by 18% in viewership.

In December, the peacock network announced that the comedy series would come to a close in 2021. NBC has ordered 15 episodes for the final season and eight have aired thus far. It’s unclear if the network will count the hour finale as a pair of episodes or if former star America Ferrara will return for the last episode.

While Superstore is ending, a spin-off series is being considered.

What do you think? Do you enjoy the Superstore TV show on NBC? Will you be watching the finale? Would you tune in for a spin-off?

Supremes Co-Founder Mary Wilson Dead at 76

13

Mary Wilson, the Supremes co-founder who sang in the group until its split, has died suddenly at home in Las Vegas, Associated Press reports. No cause of death was given. She was 76 years old.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi, in 1944, Wilson grew up in Chicago and later Detroit. She formed the Primettes, a vocal group with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, in the city in 1958. Between local performances, the trio spent the next three years hanging around Berry Gordy’s Motown studio Hitsville USA, eventually persuading Gordy to invite them into the booth to back other artists. They officially signed in 1961, and three years later earned their first in a string of Holland-Dozier-Holland–penned hits with Where Did Our Love Go.

The U.S. chart-topper kicked off a sensation, and the group became a household name with a streak of instant classics: Baby Love, Stop! In the Name of Love, You Can’t Hurry Love, and more. Their 1966 album Supremes A’ Go-Go was the first LP by an all-woman group to top the U.S. album charts. The lineup shifted—and Ballard died of a heart attack in 1976—but Wilson stayed with the Supremes until their split in 1977. She embarked on a solo career, forayed into musical theater, and, in 1986, released a bestseller memoir, Dreamgirl: My Life as a Supreme

Wilson had recently been working with Universal on some solo releases, including her unreleased 1979 album Red Hot. This past Saturday, she posted a clip to YouTube celebrating the news. In a statement to AP, Gordy said he was “extremely shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of a major member of the Motown family,” adding that she “was quite a star in her own right and over the years continued to work hard to boost the legacy of the Supremes. Mary Wilson was extremely special to me. She was a trailblazer, a diva and will be deeply missed.”
