Soulja Boy Accused of Sexual Assault, Abuse by Former Assistant in Lawsuit
Rapper Soulja Boy is being sued for sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress by a former assistant named in the complaint as Jane Doe.
According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by SPIN, the rapper, born DeAndre Cortez Way, hired Jane Doe to be his personal assistant in December 2018. He agreed to pay Doe $500 per week to live and work at Wayâs Malibu residence. Doe alleges that Way started sending her unsolicited photos of his penis less than a month after she started working for him. According to the suit, the pair began a romantic relationship shortly thereafter, but things took a dark turn after the relationship ended a month later.
Doe claims that Way physically and sexually abused her, citing ânumerous instances of physical violence (kicking, throwing, and punching), sexual assaults, spitting on her body, and threats of physical violence and death.â According to the suit, the first incident happened in January 2019 when Way physically pushed the victim out of a car five miles from her destination. A month later, Doe alleges that Way sexually assaulted her and then gave her $1,000 due to feeling remorseful.
Doe further claims that Way punched her in the head on at least ten occasions. One time, Way allegedly hit her so hard that she lost consciousness and woke up in a locked bedroom without a mattress, food, or water. She also says he verbally demeaned her appearance and told her, âYou are ugly, bumpy face!â
As per the suit, Way inappropriately touched Doe, forced her clothing off and raped her on numerous occasions, sometimes twice in one day.
When she tried to quit and leave Way, Doe says he âlocked her in a room for approximately three days against her will with no hot water until she was coerced into not leaving.â
Doe says she moved out of Wayâs residence in August 2020 after âWay attacked Plaintiff so hard that she thought she was going to die.â When she returned to Wayâs residence to obtain her personal belongings a month or two later, she alleges that âWay refused to give Plaintiffs her belongings back and instead used the opportunity to rape Plaintiff again.â
Doe also claims that Way bought her a car but failed to pay her $500 a week salary, telling her that she didnât need to be paid since she was living at Wayâs residence.
âWayâs treatment of our client, as an employee and as a person who deserves respect, has traumatized and filled her with fear,â Neama Rahmani, who is one of her lawyers, said in a statement. âHis abuse imprisoned her physically, mentally and emotionally. When she mustered the courage to flee, he impoverished her. His exploitation severely hampered our clientâs ability to re-establish herself in the workplace and in society. We believe he should be held accountable.â
The plaintiff is seeking damages in an amount to be determined by a jury.
A rep for Soulja Boy didnât immediately respond to SPINâs request for comment. However, a rep told TMZ, âSoulja would never put his hands on a female. He wouldnât beat a woman or put his hands on a woman ⌠this is non-sense!!!â

There have been â perhaps you heard â some changes at the White House. For example: Joe Biden is now the president, and Donald Trump is no longer the president.
It has also been widely reported that in his first hours in office, Biden signed 17 âexecutive orders, memorandums and proclamationsâ meant to undo various damage of Trump-era policies. These include ending the so-called Muslim ban, stopping construction on Trumpâs border wall, extending the federal moratorium on evictions, and reentering the Paris climate agreement.
But that is not all. Biden has also removed his predecessorâs Diet Coke button.
As political commentator Tom Newton Dunn explained on Twitter, Trump had a special red button on his desk, encased in a dignified wooden box. It was a great button, very special, he loved it. Interviewing the then-president in 2019, Dunn and a colleague âbecame fascinated by what the little red button did.â What did it do??
âEventually Trump pressed it, and a butler swiftly brought in a Diet Coke on a silver platter,â Dunn explains. It was, in other words, like a very exclusive Amazon Dash button.
Anyway, Dunn notes, the button is now gone. The whereabouts of the box that held it remain unknown.

Gabourey Sidibe is opening up about her struggles with mental health and says they began at a young age.
The Empire star joined Taraji P. Henson on her Facebook Watch show Peace of Mind with Taraji, and says she first developed depression growing up, which snowballed into anxiety and eventually Bulimia.
“I was so embarrassed, and I hated crying so much, I hated it,” Sidibe told Henson and co-host Tracie Jenkins on Mondayâs episode (January 18).
Sidibe says that while in college she stopped eating for days at a time, and what she did eat she would then throw up. She says the eating disorder was a “button” that would stop her from crying.

“And on top of that, people were like, ‘You’re looking good.’ So I’m like, why would I stop? Like, this is dope, in a way,” she said, calling it a “self-defense mechanism.”
Sidibe continued: “That’s what bulimia was for me. It wasn’t about losing weight, it wasn’t about controlling my appetite. It truly was about how it stopped me from crying.â
Any control Sidibe thought she did have was just a failed mask for her problems.
“It felt like I was controlling my emotions â I was not, I was out of control. I was getting worse,” she said. “Being depressed is one thing, if you add an eating disorder on top of that, that’s a whole other monster you have to fight.”

âWe barely knew each other; had only kissed. Yet somehow, it felt as if Iâd known Griffin for a lifetime. That he could see inside every nook and cranny of my soul. And with that knowledge and vision came the potential for devastating hurtâŚ.â
On a little side note, one of our personal highs is discovering how the book title is woven into the story, and in Wrecked Palace, we have to say, we couldnât have thought of a better title. It was perfect!

Mixed in with the beauty of the story was a touch of suspense, the wonderful small-town vibe we adore, and a gruff, solitary and soulful hero who had known so much loss and pain, we wished with every fibre, he would find someone to love him the way he deserved. Oh Griffin, what a man!

Enter Caelyn and her brood of siblings â the strong, sweet, and diligent Will, the effervescent Mia and the quiet contemplative Ava, three children Caelyn would give her life for. Griffins gruff exterior quite literally melted when around the OâConnor family and we ate up every part of it.
âThey either stare and whisper, morbidly curious about him and his family, or they try and get something out of him.â
At only 21, Caelyn OâConnor had to drop out of college and take on the momentous task of raising her 3 young siblings, when their parentsâ drug habits brought danger to their door. Overnight Caelynâs life changed, but it was a decision that came easily, being with her siblings was the most important part of her life. For Caelyn this meant giving up on her dreams, but the love and care of Will, Mia and Ava were paramount in her priorities. Their welfare and happiness fell on her shoulders.
Watching the trust, friendship and relationship develop between Griffin, who had lost everything when his family died under tragic circumstances when he was very young, was written with so much care and devotion to the characters, we couldnât help but fall in love and become invested in their story. At times, on the edge of our seat, other times with tears in our eyes and an ache in our hearts, we were equally swooning and smiling. A beautifully heart-warming story we adored, and we canât wait for our next visit back to Anchor Island in Reckless Refuge in May this year.
