Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here.

The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). The demos are typically reported with one decimal place but I’ve included two for more accurate ranking.

Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers typically pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach. It’s also important to remember that ratings are designed to estimate how many people watch a show’s commercials — not the show itself. That’s what advertisers pay for.

Want more? You can check out other season listings here.

What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better?

The Boss Baby: Family Business Delayed by Universal & Dreamworks

The Boss Baby: Family Business Delayed by Universal & Dreamworks

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby: Family Business will move from March 26, 2021, to Friday, September 17, 2021, taking the place of the previously announced The Bad Guys. On that date it will compete with 20th Century Studios’ Death on the Nile starring Kenneth Branagh and Sony’s The Man from Toronto starring Kevin Hart.

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys, originally set for release on September 17, 2021, is now UNSET. A new 2022 release date will be announced in the coming weeks.

In the sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s Oscar-nominated blockbuster comedy, the Templeton brothers—Tim (James Marsden, X-Men franchise) and his Boss Baby little bro Ted (Alec Baldwin)—have become adults and drifted away from each other. Tim is now a married stay-at-home dad. Ted is a hedge fund CEO. But a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach and a can-do attitude is about to bring them together again
and inspire a new family business.

Tim and his wife, Carol (Eva Longoria), the breadwinner of the family, live in the suburbs with their super-smart 7-year-old daughter Tabitha (Ariana Greenblatt, Avengers: Infinity War), and adorable new infant Tina (Amy Sedaris, Netflix’s BoJack Horseman). Tabitha, who’s at the top her class at the prestigious Acorn Center for Advanced Childhood, idolizes her Uncle Ted and wants to become like him, but Tim, still in touch with his overactive youthful imagination, worries that she’s working too hard and is missing out on a normal childhood.

When baby Tina reveals that she’s—ta-da!—a top secret agent for BabyCorp on a mission to uncover the dark secrets behind Tabitha’s school and its mysterious founder, Dr. Erwin Armstrong (Jeff Goldblum), it will reunite the Templeton brothers in unexpected ways, lead them to re-evaluate the meaning of family and discover what truly matters.

Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Kimmel also reprise their roles as Ted and Tim’s parents. Building on the success of the first film, which earned more than $500 million worldwide, The Boss Baby: Family Business is directed by returning filmmaker Tom McGrath and is produced by Jeff Hermann (Kung Fu Panda 3).

In The Bad Guys, after a lifetime of pulling legendary heists, five notorious bad guys—Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula—attempt their most challenging job yet
going good. Nobody has ever failed so hard at trying to be good as The Bad Guys, an all-new animated feature film from DreamWorks Animation.

Based on the bestselling Scholastic blockbuster book series by Aaron Blabey, which has more than 8.2 million copies in print worldwide, The Bad Guys is directed by Pierre Perifel (director, DWA award-winning short Bilby; animator, the Kung Fu Panda films), making his feature-directing debut, from a script by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Get Hard) and Hilary Winston (NBC’s Community and ABC’s Happy Endings). The film is produced by Damon Ross (co-producer, Nacho Libre) and Rebecca Huntley (co-producer Abominable, associate producer, The Boss Baby). The executive producers are Blabey, Cohen, Patrick Hughes and Jeff Berg.

Tomorrowland offers a glimpse into the technology behind its digital New Year’s Eve festival

0

There are plenty of live streams going down this New Year’s Eve — but all eyes and ears are on Tomorrowland!

The iconic festival has created an unprecedented experience featuring performances by 28 of the best dance music artists across four stages in 27 time zones. With just two days remaining until the most anticipated NYE in recent memory, Tomorrowland is offering a glimpse into the technology behind its digital festival.

Bringing the digital venue known as NAOZ to life requires a massive team, which is why Tomorrow has enlisted in 200+ professionals in 3D design, video production, gaming and special effects. Live performances, fireworks, laser shows, and a realistic festival crowd of 950,000 virtual visitors, each with their own attributes, await — including 65,000 virtual flags of over 193 different countries.

NYE 2020 Live Stream Guide: Tomorrowland, ABRACADABRA, Beatport & More

To make the magic happen, Tomorrowland built two large green-screen studios to record all the artist performances, one in Belgium and one in Los Angeles. The studios had to be modified to create an environment that allowed enough room for the festival’s creative team to operate in – with all cycloramas (infinity-walls) being 6 meters or higher, at least 8 meters wide and at least 8 meters in depth. On top of the 17 4K ultra-HD cameras, 152 virtual cameras were created, resulting in a total of 160 hours of footage.

Go behind-the-scenes with Tomorrowland here to get a better understanding of the process.

Tomorrowland NYE tickets are still available here.

Photographer Kennedi Carter on Depicting the Black American Cowboy

0

Kennedi Carter is only 21 and she’s already made history. In November, she photographed BeyoncĂ© for British Vogue becoming the youngest person to ever photograph the cover. From there, she’s gone on to photograph Erykah Badu and Summer Walker for Rolling Stone and Dan Levy for Bustle. Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Carter credits her hometown for honing her artistic eye. “I’ve grown up in the South my whole life,” she says. “So those are the stories that I gravitate towards.” She’s currently a student at North Carolina A&T and majors in African-American Studies. Though she’s already become an extremely accomplished and sought-after photographer, she only began to see photography as a viable career path last year. “I had gone to college for it a little bit and I was there for two years and then I took a gap year last year. Then I just focused on my photo work. I ended up liking it a lot and just tried to figure out how to navigate it. It ended up going pretty well.”

Her latest photo series titled “Ridin’ Sucka Free” aims to highlight Black cowboys in the South and document the connection between horsemanship and agriculture. Shot in New Orleans, the project is part of Google Pixel and LENS’ Creator Labs, an artistic incubator program that highlights emerging artists. Below, Carter discusses her artistic inspirations, how she captures authenticity, and why American cowboy culture isn’t a monolith.

———

“I started photography, or rather picked up a camera, when I was a sophomore in high school. I took a class and it went really well. I thought it was going to be an easy A, but it was hard. I actually had to learn it and then I ended up liking it a lot. I didn’t really find photography inspirations until maybe two years ago. I was just aimlessly making photographs at the time. But as of now, I really enjoy the painter Barkley Hendricks’ work. I always enjoyed Carrie Mae Weems‘ work. I love Deana Lawson‘s work and LaToya Ruby Frazier. There are just so many people. Even Titus Kaphar, Frida Kahlo, and Artemisia Gentileschi.”

“[‘Ridin’ Sucka Free’] is a project I started probably a year or two ago. It’s a continuation of me finding different places where Black cowboys are, shooting with them, and showing the face of cowboy culture as we know it in contemporary Americana is not a monolith. There are Black people present. That’s pretty much what the idea behind it was and I just enjoyed it a lot. I just went and I found people. I found this one boy, his name is Alfred and he reached out to me because he saw me tweeting about it. I needed some help with casting and finding some folks out there and he helped me. So it went really well.”

“Something I’m trying to do now is meet up with my subjects more often. So I’ll just keep shooting with them more and I keep returning to them until they become familiar with me. I don’t become a stranger anymore. The one thing I’ll do when I’m doing shoots if my editor is like, ‘Oh, they need to smile,’ I’ll make them say their favorite cereal in a sexy voice.”

“How would I describe [my photography style]? Intimate. I just like to make work that makes people feel good. I feel like that’s very open-ended, but that’s kind of just where I’m at with it. I feel like I’ve achieved that.”
