1,000-LB SISTERS – Premieres on TLC on Monday, January 4 at 10pm ET/P

Last season, viewers were introduced to Amy and Tammy Slaton, spunky sisters from Kentucky who have built an online presence sharing their lives, weight struggles and larger-than-life personalities. Fans watched them attempt their biggest endeavor yet, losing enough weight to qualify for and undergo life-changing bariatric surgery. Amy, 33, qualified and went through with the surgery, while Tammy, 34, struggled to reach her goal weight. This season, a few months after her successful surgery, Amy learns more good news – that she and her husband Michael are expecting their first baby. Having a child of their own is everything Amy has always dreamed of, but Tammy is concerned that Amy is still recovering from her procedure, and that her doctor had warned her to wait at least two years to get pregnant. Meanwhile, Tammy has moved in next door to Amy and Michael and relies on them for her basic daily needs. Amy worries that with a baby on the way, she won’t have time to care for Tammy, and hopes her sister can learn to become more independent. During quarantine, Tammy’s weight has fluctuated, worrying Amy and her family that Tammy’s recent weight gain means that she has fallen into old habits. The sisters’ older brother Chris decides to join Tammy on her journey in the hopes of getting approved for weight loss surgery himself and to hold Tammy accountable. They hope they can motivate her to get back on track in order to qualify for weight loss surgery. Meanwhile, Tammy is head over heels for her boyfriend Jerry, who she met in person once last year in Atlanta. Now, he’s agreed to visit her in Kentucky and Tammy hopes this means he’s ready to take their relationship to the next level. However, when Tammy’s siblings discover the details of how they met, they worry that Jerry could sabotage Tammy’s weight loss goals and distract her from making her health a priority. Additionally, in a short-form series premiering December 11 exclusively on social, Tammy and Amy will give viewers a fun-filled experience cooking healthy foods, attempting the “Hot and Sour” challenge, and even giving Amy’s husband, Michael, a makeover! Join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #1000lbSisters. 1,000-LB SISTERS is produced by Crazy Legs Productions for TLC.

RHOC’s Shannon & Braunwyn Still Have Questions About Elizabeth

0

As she continues, Gina says she knew Elizabeth was struggling and expresses regret for saying anything.

“I shouldn’t be putting my feelings on you about your personal stuff,” Gina states. “So, I do apologize for that.”

Yet, Gina does remind Elizabeth that she was sharing “all different versions of it,” which made the situation “confusing.”

“It was just weird,” Gina continues. “If you just tell everybody, lay it out there like you did to me, everybody is just gonna accept you and it’s good.”

Back in the other conversation, Shannon reveals she heard that Elizabeth has settled her divorce.

“Good,” Braunwyn concludes. “Maybe we can talk about something else then.”

In the terrifying thriller Songbird, the COVID-23 virus has mutated and the world is in its fourth year of lockdown. Infected Americans are ripped from their homes and forced into quarantine camps known as Q-Zones, from which there is no escape, as a few brave souls fight back against the forces of oppression. Amid this dystopian landscape, a fearless courier, Nico (KJ Apa), who’s immune to the deadly pathogen, finds hope and love with Sara (Sofia Carson), though her lockdown prohibits them from physical contact. When Sara is believed to have become infected, Nico races desperately across the barren streets of Los Angeles in search of the only thing that can save her from imprisonment … or worse.

In addition to KJ Apa (Riverdale) and Sofia Carson (Descendants), the call sheet for the film is said to feature an ensemble cast that includes Demi Moore (Corporate Animals), Bradley Whitford (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Craig Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows), Alexandra Daddario (We Summon the Darkness), Paul Walter Hauser (Da 5 Bloods), and Peter Stormare (American Gods).

Songbird is directed by Adam Mason (Into the Dark) from a script written by Mason and Simon Boyes. Bay is producing alongside Adam Goodman and Andrew Eben Davidson of Invisible Narratives, who are also financing the project. The film is produced by Michael Bay, Catchlight Studios’ Jeanette Volturno, Jason Clark, and Marcei Brown with Michael Kase and Invisible Narratives’ Eben Davidson set as executive producers.

The film was the first to go into production in Los Angeles as the real pandemic lockdown was slowly lifted and the imposition of new safety restrictions made it possible for Hollywood to start slowly resume filming. Songbird is set to hit digital platforms for a 48-hour rental period on Friday, December 11, followed by a release on a major streaming service in 2021.

The Brooklyn-Based DJ Avalon Emerson is Making Dance Music for the Desert

This is “Add to Queue,” our attempt to sort through the cacophony of music floating in the algorithmic atmosphere by consulting the experts themselves. Our favorite musicians tell us about their favorite music—the sad, the happy, the dinner party-y, the songs they want played at their funeral.

Hailing from Arizona, Avalon Emerson has built a career on making electronic music that’s an homage to the arid desert—celestial sounds fused with dance beats, vintage house, and techno. The Brooklyn-based DJ earned her stripes in the San Fransisco scene at just 19-years-old, before moving to Berlin in 2014. In recent years, the 32-year-old has remixed Robyn’s “Honey,” launched an international series of DJ events called 9000 Dreams, and released her very own DJ Kicks compilation—a 70-minute long mix featuring two new songs. As if that wasn’t enough to keep captivated ravers busy, Emerson is back again with more beats for the soul with “Rotting Hills,” the titular single on her upcoming three-track EP. Rotting Hills is a happy-meets-sad mix she describes as “a study in contrasts—mixing feelings of hopelessness with trying to enjoy the present.” During a quarantine studio move, the DJ found some time to share her playlist with Interview. From Depeche Mode to Antonio Carlos Jobim, the celestial curator gives us music to keep us afloat for the rest of this never-ending year.

———

ERNESTO MACIAS: What is the last song you listened to?

AVALON EMERSON: My girlfriend was playing St. Vincent. Let me ask her. “Year of the Tiger” by St. Vincent.

MACIAS: Who is the earliest musician to influence you?

EMERSON: I’m going to go way back and probably say my mom. She played The Joshua Tree by U2 on those cute little earphones that you put on your pregnant belly so that the baby can hear it. She loves to tell the story about how when they brought me home from the hospital, I was just fussy and crying and they put that album on and I just quieted right down and chilled out, because I love that record.

MACIAS: That’s the earliest answer that I’ve ever had, in my whole time doing this. Where was your first rave and who was playing?

EMERSON: Oh my god, I’m going to give a kind of embarrassing answer. My first rave, I have no idea who was playing, but it was when we were in high school. I remember me and like eight of my friends drove to a very sketchy part of downtown Phoenix. It sounds like I’m making this up, but I’m not. It was in an old Chuck E. Cheese. This was before EDM—this was like a happy, hardcore rave. The line was crazy long. My friend Cooper went up and greased the doorman, and that was my first rave. Very funny. I’ll never reach that high again.

MACIAS: It makes sense that you wanted to go to Berlin, with that sort of beginning. What’s the song that always puts you in a happy mood?

EMERSON: Let’s see. Maybe a Sundays’ song. “I Feel.”

MACIAS: What song makes you feel confident?

EMERSON: That’s an interesting emotion to try and think about. Probably Jackie Moore, “This Time Baby.”

MACIAS: What’s an album or a song that takes you back to your youth?

EMERSON: Probably a Bright Eyes album, honestly. Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground.

MACIAS: If you had to create a playlist for a Zoom date, what songs would you put in there?

EMERSON: Maybe I’ll have some jazz. That’s kind of funny. I think it would be funny to have like a Cal Tjader record on in the background and I’m like, “Oh, sorry, hang on. Let me turn this off.” Or Antonio Carlos Jobim. Something like that would be funny.

MACIAS: What about for a post-breakup playlist?

EMERSON: Maybe some Depeche Mode. Black Celebration,” maybe.

MACIAS: If your life were a TV show, what would be the theme song?

EMERSON: Stevie Nicks’s “Stand Back.” That’s the one.

Caroline Shaw Announces New Album Narrow Sea, Shares Video: Watch

Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Caroline Shaw has announced a new album: Narrow Sea is out January 22 via Nonesuch. She wrote the title composition for Sō Percussion, soprano Dawn Upshaw, and pianist Gilbert Kalish in 2017. The record also includes Taxidermy, which Shaw composed for Sō Percussion in 2012. Below, watch Upshaw, Kalish, and Sō Percussion perform the second part of Narrow Sea.

In a statement, Shaw explained, “All of the texts used in the piece share two features: Each refers to water in some way (the river Jordan, swelling flood, narrow sea—images of what lies between this world and the next), and each has a sense of joy in looking to heaven (crossing over, going home).” She also said:

Narrow Sea combines my previous explorations of folk song and hymnody with a sonic universe that includes ceramic bowls, humming, a piano played like a dulcimer by five people at once, and flower pots (which are the central focus of Taxidermy). Gil Kalish’s piano serves as a grounding force, or a familiar memory, that keeps reappearing amid the different textures introduced by Sō Percussion. And Dawn Upshaw’s voice is a brilliant instrument that brings the words to life with warmth and directness.

Narrow Sea follows Orange, Caroline Shaw’s 2019 album performed by the Attacca Quartet. The album earned Shaw and the quartet the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance.

Caroline Shaw won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Music for her Partita for 8 Voices. She later worked on Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo and ye.

How to Play Bongos (Class 9) in Tamil / Star Horse Benja

How to Play Bongos (Class 9) in Tamil / Star Horse Benja
Bongo drummers are known as Bongoseros.

Bongo drums, also called bongos, pair of small single-headed Afro-Cuban drums. The two heads, which are respectively about 5 inches (13 cm) and about 7 inches (18 cm) across, are nailed or rod-tensioned to wooden, open-ended “shells” of the same height. Played with the hands and fingers, the drums are yoked together to help the performer execute lively rhythmic dialogues. Bongo drums were created about 1900 in Cuba for Latin American dance bands. Other Cuban folk drums are also called bongos.
Bongo drums produce relatively high-pitched sounds compared to conga drums and should be held behind the knees with the larger drum on the right when right-handed. It is most often played by hand and is especially associated with Cuban music with a steady pattern or ostinato of eighth-notes known as the Martillo or “hammer”. They are traditionally played by striking the edge of the drumheads with the fingers and palms. The glissando used with bongó de monte is done by rubbing the third finger, supported by the thumb, across the head of the drum.
Think inside the circle. Founded in 1999 and listed on The London Stock Exchange (AIM: BGO) in 2005, the Bango provides unique technology and services used by global leaders to grow their online commerce faster and more effectively. Bango customers include Amazon, Google, Samsung, Softbank and Microsoft.
“Bongos” redirects here. For the American pop band, see the Bongos. For other uses, see Bongo (disambiguation).
Bongos (Spanish: bongó) are an Afro-Cuban percussion instrument consisting of a pair of small open bottomed drums of different sizes. In Spanish, the larger drum is called the hembra (female) and the smaller the macho (male). Together with the conga or tumbadora, and to a lesser extent the batá drum, bongos are the most widespread Cuban hand drums, being commonly played in genres such as son Cubano, salsa and Afro-Cuban jazz. A bongo drummer is known as a bongos
Bongo drums are about 20 centimetres (8 in) high and have diameters of approximately 20 centimetres (8 in) and 25 centimetres (10 in)
The origin of the bongo is largely unclear. Its use was first documented in the Eastern region of Cuba, the Oriente Province, during the late 19th century, where it was employed in popular music styles such as nengón, changüí, and their descendant, the son Cubano.[1] According to Fernando Ortiz, the word bongó derived from the Bantu words mgombo or Ngoma, meaning drum.[4] He hypothesizes that the word evolved through metathesis and by similarity with another Bantu word, mbongo.[4] In Holguín, certains drums which are considered possible ancestors of the bongó are known as tahona, which might have a been a generic word for drum in Cuba and also refers to an unrelated music genre
The bongo entered Cuban popular music as a key instrument of early son ensembles, quickly becoming—due to the increasing popularity of the son—”the first instrument with an undeniable African past to be accepted in Cuban “society” circles”. This is attested, for example, in poems by Nicolás Guillén. As son evolved and distanced itself from its precursor, the changüí, so did the bongos. The bongos used in changüí, known as bongó de monte, are larger and tuned lower than their modern counterparts, have tack-heads instead of tunable hardware, and play in a manner similar to the lead conga drum (Quinto) and other folkloric lead drum parts. Unlike modern son, changüí never extended its popularity beyond eastern Cuba, and hence its bongos remain a rare sight. It is commonly accepted that the son reached Havana partly as a result of the arrival of musicians members of Cuba’s ejército Permanente (permanent army), which brought music from eastern Cuba with them. Among the first known bongoseros to enlist in the ejército Permanente in Santiago de Cuba was Mariano Mena
Bongo drums produce relatively high-pitched sounds compared to conga drums and should be held behind the knees with the larger drum on the right when right-handed. It is most often played by hand and is especially associated with Cuban music with a steady pattern or ostinato of eighth-notes known as the Martillo or “hammer”.[26] They are traditionally played by striking the edge of the drumheads with the fingers and palms. The glissando used with bongó de monte is done by rubbing the third finger, supported by the thumb, across the head of the drum.
