Never failing to believe in him, they even do this shortly after another attempt to destroy the newly forged Christmas Star. Accepting their love, as well as his own personal fault, is all that Belsnickel needed to become an elf again. Reconciling with his own family, he’s allowed to rejoin the elves at the North Pole, smoothing things over once and for all.

Thom Yorke, Burial, and Four Tet Reportedly Release New Song

Thom Yorke, Burial, and Four Tet have released a new double-A side single, according to stalwart London record stores Phonica and Sounds of the Universe. The limited-edition black label features two tracks: “Her Revolution” and “His Rope.” A representative for XL could not confirm the identity of the artists, but directed Pitchfork to the Instagram posts below. The label recently shared a teaser for a black-label release; scroll down to check it out. 

Back in 2009, Burial and Four Tet joined forces for the single “Moth”/“Wolf Club.” Two years later, the duo reunited, now with Yorke, for another AA-side: “Ego”/“Mirror.” Yorke hinted at another collaboration in 2016, saying, “I did another thing, but the vocal was too dark, according to Kieran [Hebden, aka Four Tet]. For me, that’s, ‘Really? Too dark, even for me? OK.’” It’s unclear whether the new single is another undertaking altogether.

“Smooth jazz is music that evolved from a blend of jazz fusion and easy listening pop music, featuring a polished pop feel with little to no jazz improvisation. The genre arose in the mid-1970s in the United States, but it was not named “smooth jazz” until the 1980s. Traditional jazz players and jazz purists did not embrace the popular style; Jazz Journal’s “Sound Investment” column stated in November 1999 that it “would cover an extremely wide spectrum of jazz styles” while avoiding smooth jazz.

The earliest smooth jazz music appearing in the 1970s includes the 1975 album Touch by saxophonist John Klemmer, the song “Breezin'” as performed by guitarist George Benson in 1976, the 1977 instrumental composition “Feels So Good” by flugelhorn player Chuck Mangione, and jazz fusion group Spyro Gyra’s instrumental “Morning Dance”, released in 1979. Smooth jazz grew in popularity in the 1980s as Anita Baker, Sade, Al Jarreau and Grover Washington released multiple hit songs. The smooth jazz genre began to decline at the end of the 1980s in a backlash exemplified by critical complaints about what many critics saw as the “bland” sound of top-selling saxophonist Kenny G, whose popularity peaked with his 1992 album Breathless.” ~Wikipedia

Universal, James Wan & Julius Avery Team for New Van Helsing

As Universal has seemingly found its path to success in revitalizing their class Monster movie library with The Invisible Man and a number of promising projects in the works, they are partnering up with James Wan and Julius Avery to develop a new Van Helsing film, according to Deadline.

The film, whose story is being kept under wraps aside from keeping it in the world of the titular monster hunter, will be rewritten by the Overlord director on Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Godzilla vs. Kong)’s original script. The new film will be directed by Avery while modern horror icon Wan (The Conjuring Universe) is attached to produce via his Atomic Monster production banner alongside Michael Clear, while Judson Scott is set to executive produce.

Helsing, who first appeared in Bram Stoker’s legendary novel Dracula, has been seen on screen performed by a number of stars over the years including Edward Van Sloan in Universal’s 1931 adaptation of the novel as well as Peter Cushing in Hammer’s film series, Laurence Olivier, Anthony Hopkins and Thomas Kretschmann.

Most notably was in 2004’s eponymous film written and directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) and starring Hugh Jackman in the titular role in a loose adaptation of the character that Universal was hoping to launch into a new franchise, but following the film’s poor reception from critics and only bringing in $300 million on its estimated $170 million production budget, the studio elected to keep the character in their pockets for a hopeful future outing.

Though it’s currently unclear if Avery’s take on the character will be R-rated like his last directorial effort, the critically acclaimed Nazi zombie actioner Overlord, sources report the studio is very open to this possibility given that the most recent revitalization of a Classic Monster property, Leigh Whannell’s Invisible Man, garnered rave reviews and grossed over $130 million on its $7 million budget.
