TWOHEYS RESTAURANT, A SAN GABRIEL VALLEY LANDMARK SINCE 1943, OPENS IN SOUTH PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

0

Amid Twoheys’ signature signage as a backdrop, the owners of Twoheys Restaurant in South Pasadena staged an official ribbon cutting November 18, 2020.  Present for the ceremony were South Pasadena civic and community leaders. The event saluted the legendary restaurant’s continued legacy as one of Southern California’s well-known American eateries. www.twoheys.com

Twoheys. forrmerly in Alhambra, California, has been in the San Gabriel Valley since 1943 and home of the Original Stinko burger continues the tradition of serving customers from near and far who come to enjoy family-friendly American fare —  burgers, onion rings and soda fountain favorites, including its award-winning sundaes. Throughout its illustrious history, Twoheys has welcomed well-known celebrities including American Actors Cary Grant, Mickey Rooney, Bill Murray, American Painter/Illustrator Norman Rockwell and Author/Screen Writer Ray Bradbury.

To mark the official opening, co-owner Tanya Christos recognized family members (parents Paul and Mary Ann Mallis, Gregory Mallis, Jim Christos and Charlie Christos) and Director of Operations Bill Hamal who welcomed  South Pasadena Chamber Board of Directors: Chair Andrew Berk,  Past Chair Sam Hernandez, President & CEO Laurie Wheeler.  During the morning event, South Pasadena Mayor Bob Joe presented Twoheys with a certificate from the City of South Pasadena and  Field Deputy Savannah Moore of Los Angeles County Supervisor (5th District) Kathryn Barger’s office also presented a certificate to the Twoheys’ owners.  A third certificate was also given on behalf of California State Senator Anthony Portantino.

“We are truly honored to open Twoheys in South Pasadena, a location rich in history, and invite both long-time customers and new patrons to experience old time favorites and new menu items while making memories for future generations to come,” says Christos.

The new 5,200 square-foot restaurant’s interior, designed by Zoumas Design of South Pasadena and constructed by Peter Koulos Construction, brings together classic elements in a contemporary design –  combining the warmth and nostalgia of a diner with a lunch counter and old-time soda fountain in a refined, open and bright space.  The original Stink-o logo and signage has been updated for the 21stCentury with a youthful and whimsical design.

The well-known eatery has added a new twist on the American diner experience with alfresco dining, a Happy Hour menu, a full bar with seven hand crafted specialty cocktails such as the signature cocktail the “Stink-o-Tini,” and an expanded Twoheys retail shop which sells bittersweet, milk and caramel toppings, Jones Coffee Roasters Twoheys Blend coffee, Further Products hand soap and a selection of logo apparel.

Twoheys is open for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 9  p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.  The Restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. Executive chefs, Gerardo Talamantes, Sr. and Enrique Elias, have created a menu that reflects both classic American fare from the original menu and new menu items that feature starters, soups/salads, sandwiches/clubs/melts, traditonal favorites, specialties, classic burgers, and breakfast served until 3 p.m. each day. Vegetarian and vegan selections are also available.

Twoheys boasts a total seating capacity of 199 with patio dining that can accommodate 90 diners in a socially responsible manner and an indoor private dining room that will seat up to 30 guests as safety mandates are lifted. The family-favorite restaurant also has its own soda fountain which serves Twoheys famous bittersweet, milk chocolate and caramel sundaes.

In addition, Twoheys Restaurant offers their Food Truck with either a choice of three Backyard Menu packages or a custom menu from any of Twoheys favorite menu items, accompanied by a state-of-the-art sound system offering endless music for those who wish

to hold socially responsible distanced events. https://www.twoheys.com/our-food-truck/ Three Sisters Catering is another option for custom catering. https://www.twoheys.com/three-sisters-catering/ The company’s team of culinary professionals pulls out all the stops to customize everything from cocktail receptions to off-site gourmet parties and corporate events.

Just in time for the holidays, Twoheys is offering two take-out and pick-up choices for Thanksgiving — a “House Roasted Turkey Breast Meal” for up to 6 people for $125 and a “House Roasted Turkey Breast & Ham Meal” for up to six people priced at $150.00.

In December, Twoheys will highlight a “Holiday Family Meal Pack ToGo” as well as a holiday

signature hand-crafted drink.

ABOUT TWOHEYS RESTAURANT SOUTH PASADENA

The award-winning Twoheys Restaurant opened October 10, 2020 in South Pasadena. Twoheys, pronounced “2ee’s,” originally opened in 1943 when owner Jack Twohey opened his first restaurant on Arroyo Boulevard in Pasadena.  At that time, the restaurant had 37 seats and quickly became known as the premier hamburger place for the finest hamburgers, onion rings and hand-dipped fountain specialties.  This former location featured memorable drive-up carhop service from the 1950s to the mid 1970s.  The Little Stink-O, clothes pin and tear drop logo was trademarked by Mr. Twohey in 1943.  It originated when he overheard a woman patron of the restaurant exclaim, “Oh-Stink-O,” when a gentleman next to her was served a hamburger generously garnished with onions and pickles.

Twoheys Restaurant has previously received several awards including, Los Angeles Times “Reader’s Choice,” Los Angeles Magazine “Best Family Restaurant,” Pasadena Star-News “Best Of,” and Pasadena Weekly “Best Of.”

Located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, connecting Pasadena, South Pasadena, San Marino and Alhambra, California, Twoheys is situated at 424 Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena, California 91030.   It is centrally located near the 110, 10 and 710 Freeways.  For more information, call 626 284-7387, email info@twoheys.com or visit www.twoheys.com.  Follow and Tag Twoheys @Twoheys_Restaurant on social media.

10 Best Shopping Scenes in Movies

ComingSoon.net has determined some of the best shopping scenes in cinematic history. Check out our picks below!

Millions of shoppers storm stores on Black Friday and warm up their trigger fingers for Cyber Monday. However, some of us will be staying home and pinching pennies—we’ve seen enough elaborate shopping montages—which we’ve tried to reenact in real life—to know that sometimes money is best left unspent. Conversely, some have cleared their schedules to go on said shopping sprees and might need mood-setting scenes filled with card swipes, dressing rooms, makeovers, and shopping bags. In honor of these two days of retail madness, we’ve rounded up the best shopping scenes in movies.

RELATED: The 10 Best Thanksgiving Episodes of Television

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

One of the most iconic opening shopping scenes of all-time sees Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) window-shopping in front of Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue in New York.

Home Alone (1990)

Who can forget 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) experience being home alone? As the man of the house, Kevin took it upon himself to go grocery shopping (and using coupons), rising suspicion from the checkout clerk. Unfortunately, also experienced the downside of choosing plastic over paper.

Check-Out Woman:

Are you here all by yourself?

Kev:

Ma’am, I’m 8 years old. You think I would be here ALONE? I don’t think so.

Superbad (2007)

When two inseparable best friends go shopping for jeans, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), it’s the latter’s responsibility to tell the former that those jeans are “way too tight…” Male camel-toe aside.

Crazy, Stupid Love (2011)

Hot off of a divorce and new to the singles club, Cal (Steve Carell) enlists the help of ladies man Jacob (Ryan Gosling) to get back in the game (or rather Jacob insists). Jacob takes Cal shopping for a new wardrobe, telling him to “be better than the GAP!”

Pretty Woman (1990)

Wealthy businessman Edward (Richard Gere) hires a hooker, Vivian (Julia Roberts) to spend the weekend with him. In one of the all-time great changing room montages, Vivian hits Rodeo Drive where shopping assistants judge her before she undergoes an epic fashion transformation set to that titular song.

Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)

Confessions of a Shopaholic sees Isla Fisher’s Rebecca Bloomwood shop a bunch throughout its run time. That said, many scenes could make this list. The most memorable involves a sample sale during which Rebecca sets her eyes on a pair of Gucci boots, wrestling them away from another shopper.

Big (1988)

While messing around at a toy store, Tom Hanks’ Josh Baskin (12-year-old in a 30-year-old body) meets Mr. MacMillan (Robert Loggia), the owner of a toy company. The two end up playing Chopsticks on a giant electronic keyboard in one of the most memorable scenes in movie history (and Josh ends up scoring a job as a toy tester).

Elf (2003)

After just traveling from the North Pole to New York City, Will Ferrell’s Buddy visits the mall for the first time. Needless to say, escalators are a mystery to him and Gimbles toy store is the most exciting thing ever.

Commando (1985)

Determined to thwart the villains and rescue his daughter (Alyssa Milano), retired Special Forces soldier John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger) makes a pit stop (using a bulldozer) at a local department store. He grabs the necessities—some clothes, a knife, guns, and a rocket launcher.

Wonder Woman (2017)

After American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) tells Diana (Gal Gadot) about WWI and takes her to England, the princess of the Amazons tries on 226 outfits before finding the right one to replace her Amazonian gear (sword and shield non withstanding).

In this video, I am going to show you 4 ways that you can easily add 8th note triplets to your jazz lines and make them sound a lot more interesting.

Croods 2 Box Office: How Much The Movie Made Opening Night In Theaters Over Thanksgiving

0

That’s pretty impressive for a movie that was once rumored to be cancelled in production, thanks to Dreamworks Animation’s tumultuous history throughout the last decade. But with The Croods: A New Age under the auspices of Dreamworks’ parent studio Universal, it seems that the project not only found its feet, but according to Deadline’s numbers, also found its audience. The same of which could be said for almost the entire run of films in theaters now. Among the titles that were mentioned as seeing a bump in their Thanksgiving portfolio were the other family comedy on the market, The War With Grandpa, as well as Liam Neeson’s action thriller Honest Thief. Though Universal was probably smiling extra hard yesterday, as they had two other films see fortune smile upon them, with both slasher-comedy Freaky and the emotional drama Let Him Go both receiving their own increases.

MARAUDA Unleashes Colossal New Single ‘Avoidable Cause’

0

Australian based Hamish Prasad aka MARAUDA has unleashed a new record ‘Avoidable Cause’ out now on Malignant Music.

MARAUDA’s explosive and unsparing signature sound is littered throughout the entirety of Avoidable Cause. The record is a blistering cut filled with malevolent robotic sounds and fine tuned aggressive production. The track beckons a breakneck production style suited for dubstep and bass enthusiasts alike.

Avoidable Cause immediately places you into a mutated post earth soundscape over run by humanoid like creatures that certainly don’t sound human. MARAUDA’s latest single is bound to be another work of art that gets tacked onto the Australian bass producers catalogue of bangers. MARAUDA is without a doubt a pioneer of bass music like many before him and many to come after him he is shifting the sound of music by introducing new feelings and emotions to listeners all over the world.

Listen to ‘Avoidable Cause’ below or grab it here.
