
Adam McKay and Jennifer Lawrence recently worked together on the Netflix comedyĀ Donāt Look Up, and they have even more projects planned for the future. While on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, McKay confirmed that theĀ Bad Blood film based upon faux-entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes, theĀ founder and CEO ofĀ Theranos, is still in development and will star Lawrence.

āIn the case of Jen Lawrence, Iāve known Jen for a while,ā said McKay of working with the star. āOne of the first meetings she ever did in Los Angeles was after her first movie was with me, and ⦠I think she was 17, she mightāve been 18. She worshipped Step Brothers, so when her agent said, āWho do you want to meet with?ā Iām sure they werenāt so happy to hear her answer: āThe guy who did Step Brothers.ā So Iāve known Jen for a long time and have always been dying to work with her.
āWe have been developing the Bad Blood [film]⦠That is still in development, and so that was the first person in. I wrote the character of Kate Dibiasky, the name of the character, for Jen, and she was the first read on the script and was like, I was in.ā

Holmes is currently facing a dozen felony fraud charges. The Stanford dropoutās company was valued at $9 billion until an investigation proved its technology said to reinvent health care was unproven.Ā The film will be based on John Carreyrouās book on the situation called Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup.Ā The film version was written by Vanessa Taylor, and Legendary won the rights to the film in 2016.Ā Producing the film is McKay, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick.
