Real Estate Introduce New Guitarist James Richardson

0

Real Estate began their Atlas anniversary tour last night, and it meant the debut of a new guitarist, following the departure of Julian Lynch. Joining the band is James Richardson, a multi-instrumentalist best known for his work on tour and in the studio with MGMT. A representative for Real Estate confirmed that Richardson is a new full-time member of the band.

“You might notice a new and friendly face on stage with us this fall,” Real Estate shared on Instagram. “Please join us in welcoming @jomdry to the Real Estate Family! This dude rocks !!! … and he’s played on some of your favorite records of all time, I’m sure of it.”

Richardson has been a fixture in MGMT since Congratulations, and the band’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser have spoken fondly of him in interviews with Pitchfork. Beyond his work with MGMT, Richardson has played on Cameron Winter’s Heavy Metal, Snail Mail’s Lush, Cola Boyy’s Prosthetic Boombox, and more.

Julian Lynch joined Real Estate in 2016, following the departure of founding guitarist Matt Mondanile, who was fired after being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.

Real Estate began their tour last night in Los Angeles. The North American tour continues into October.

The White Lotus Season 4 Location Revealed for HBO Show

0

The White Lotus Season 4 has officially found its vacation destination, with Mike White and HBO landing on a new country for the next season of the hit drama.

Where will The White Lotus Season 4 be held?

According to a new report from Deadline, The White Lotus is headed to France. The European country has been selected as the new location for the highly anticipated fourth season of the show.

No official location within France has been confirmed as of yet, but The White Lotus has been known to use Four Seasons hotels for its filming.

Should they stick to that theme, Deadline lists the only three options available to them; the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons hotel in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera, the Megève in the French Alps, and Hotel George V, a luxury hotel located in Paris.

While little is known about The White Lotus Season 4, creator Mike White did hint that he hopes to get away from a beach setting. In a post-show interview following Season 3’s finale, White said his hope was to “get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks” and into a new setting. If he still feels that way, a hotel located in the French Alps would prove a stark difference.

The White Lotus Season 3 took place in Thailand, and was largely filmed in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui. The third season starred Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Rockwell, Scott Glenn, Natasha Rothwell, and Jon Gries.

Morrissey Claims He’s Selling His Rights to the Smiths’ Catalog

0

Morrissey would apparently like to divest from the Smiths. A post on his website claims that he “has no choice but to offer for sale all of his business interests in ‘The Smiths’ to any interested party / investor” because he is “burnt out by any and all connections to” his former bandmates: guitarist Johnny Marr, drummer Mike Joyce, and the late bassist Andy Rourke.

When reached by Pitchfork, representatives for Johnny Marr had no immediate comment to share from the guitarist. And Mike Joyce’s manager told Pitchfork that the drummer does not comment on the actions or comments of his former bandmates.

Morrissey is apparently trying to offload his stake in the Smiths’ band name, artwork, song titles, lyrics, recordings, merchandise, and rights to publishing and synchronization. There is also a Gmail address for “serious investors” to contact, but Pitchfork’s email to it bounced back.

“I have had enough of malicious associations,” wrote Morrissey. “With my entire life I have paid my rightful dues to these songs and these images. I would now like to live disassociated from those who wish me nothing but ill-will and destruction, and this is the only resolution. The songs are me – they are no one else – but they bring with them business communications that go to excessive lengths to create as much dread and spite year after year. I must now protect myself, especially my health.”

The Smiths broke up in 1987, five years after forming. In his 2016 memoir, Set the Boy Free, Marr discussed the possibility of reuniting with Morrissey in 2008. Music festivals such as Coachella have reportedly offered generous performance fees to entice the British jangle-pop staples to get back together, too, but the Smiths’ remaining members have rejected those deals. Last year, Morrissey said that he agreed to a “lucrative” offer for him and Marr to perform a global tour in 2025, but that Marr ignored it. In a statement to Pitchfork, Marr clarified: “I didn’t ignore the offer. I said no.”

Also last year, Morrissey asserted that Marr obtained the trademark rights to the Smiths’ name “without any consultation to Morrissey, and without allowing Morrissey the standard opportunity of ‘objection.’” Speaking with Pitchfork, Marr’s management said that, in 2018, “Marr reached out to Morrissey, via his representatives, to work together in protecting The Smiths’ name.” Following a lack of response from Morrissey, the guitarist decided “to register the trademark himself.”

“There is also an obvious media shift to delete me from being the central essence of the Smiths,” Morrissey wrote on his website in January, “but this cannot work because I invented the group name, the song-titles, the album titles, the artwork, the vocal melodies, and all of the lyrical sentiments came from my heart … and so it’s a bit like saying Mick Jagger had nothing to do with the Stones.”

New Bruce Willis Health Update Is Heartbreaking

0

Emma Heming Willis, the wife of legendary actor Bruce Willis, has shared a heartbreaking update on the star as he continues to deal with his dementia treatment.

What is the latest Bruce Willis health update?

Speaking to ABC in a new special titled Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey, Willis’ wife revealed that Bruce was now living in a nearby, separate, one-story home as part of his dementia treatment.

Emma said the decision to move Willis was “one of the hardest” she had to face as his caregiver. However, with Willis now able to receive round-the-clock care, she believes it would be what Bruce wanted for their family.

“I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters,” Willis said (via Rolling Stone). “You know, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.”

Heming Willis also opened up about the decision in ways it related to her and the couple’s two daughters, aged 13 and 11. She noted that she was worried loud noises or other things would trigger Bruce, and wasn’t sure if parents would feel comfortable having playdates at their homse as a result.

“I didn’t know if parents would feel comfortable leaving their child at our home, so, again, not only was I isolated, I isolated our whole family,” Heming Willis said. “You know, the girls were isolated too, and that was by design; I was doing that. It was a hard time. It was a really hard time.”

Despite living away from the family, Heming Willis said that Bruce’s second home is still close by, and that the family sees each other for breakfast and dinner. “It is a house that is filled with love and warmth and care and laughter,” Heming Willis said.

In 2022, Willis announced that he would step away from the world of acting after being diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder that affects the ability to communicate. In a 2023 update, Willis’ daughter Rumer announced that his diagnosis had progressed into frontotemporal dementia.

In 2023, Tallulah Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, wrote an essay for Vogue detailing her family’s reaction to Willis’ diagnosis of dementia earlier this year, where she called the ongoing period for the family “the beginning of grief.” She noted that she and the rest of the family noticed that something wasn’t right with Willis “for a long time” but that it had been chalked up to Willis’ hearing damage that he suffered throughout his long career in the world of action films.

“I’ve known that something was wrong for a long time,” Tallulah wrote. “It started out with a kind of vague unresponsiveness, which the family chalked up to Hollywood hearing loss: ‘Speak up! “Die Hard” messed with Dad’s ears.’ Later that unresponsiveness broadened, and I sometimes took it personally.”

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Officially Releases New Album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party: Listen

0

Hayley Williams of Paramore has released a new solo album comprised of the 17 tracks shared earlier this summer and the new bonus song “Parachute.” Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party is out now on streaming services, with physical releases arriving on November 7 via Post Atlantic—Williams’ own label, started after her 20-year contract with Atlantic ended—and distributed by Secretly Distribution. Listen to the new album below.

Since granting the title track with a music video, Williams has also shared a visual for “Glum,” directed by AJ Gibboney and Zac Farro, which you can watch below. Williams and Daniel James wrote, played, and recorded most instruments on Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, with additional help longtime collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard. Jim-E Stack also contributed to “True Believer.”

Back in 2020, Williams made her solo debut with the full-length album Petals for Armor. She followed it up with the three-track Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades EP that same year and Flowers for Vases / Descansos in 2021. She described the latter LP as “a prequel, or some sort of detour between parts 1 and 2 of Petals.” Afterward, Paramore wrote and released their fifth studio album as a band, This Is Why, in 2023.
