NFL Player Emmanuel Ogbah Shares Racist Message He Received After Sunday Loss | News

Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah received a racist message on Instagram following his team’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (October 17) in London.

Ogbah said he typically ignores the abusive and negative comments and messages he receives, however one Instagram user referred to him by the N-word.

According to Knewz, a man named Nick Mongeau used the racial slur against Ogbah, who reposted it in a tweet that has since been deleted. Following the message being made public by the NFL star, Mongeau’s employer, the University of Rhode Island, released a statement condemning the horrible act of racism.

“The University learned today of an offensive, unacceptable and racist comment posted to social media earlier today, allegedly by one of our students. This language is abhorrent and has no place in a community that is deeply committed to anti-racism,” the university said in its statement.

The added: “Given the significance of this issue, the University has taken immediate action and referred the matter to the University student conduct process for review.”

While Mongeau’s identity was not revealed by URI, the Internet reportedly tracked him down and he subsequently deleted his IG account.

Ogbah finished with three tackles, a sack and a pass breakup in the 20-23 loss to the Jaguars. The 27-year-old is in his second season with the Dolphins.

Oscar-Nominated Cinematographer Joins Jordan Peele’s Nope

Oscar-nominated cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema is joining the crew of Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated upcoming film Nope.

According to a recent Kodak ad celebrating directors of photography that are shooting their projects on film, van Hoytema was listed as being the cinematographer for Nope. Van Hoytema has worked as a cinematographer on several blockbuster films, including Spike Jonze’s Her, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Tenet, as well as having worked on the 007 films Spectre, and Ad Astra as well.

Van Hoytema’s work on Dunkirk earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, which he ultimately lost to Roger Deakins for his work on Blade Runner 2049.

Nope will be led by Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya, who is officially reuniting with Peele following the successful release of 2017’s Get Out. Joining him are Keke Palmer (Hustle), and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari), who is no stranger to the horror genre after previously starring in The Walking Dead. Further details about the project’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but like Peele’s first two features, it is expected to be a psychological horror-thriller laced with socially conscious themes in regards to race and society.

The film is written and directed by Jordan Peele, who previously earned an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for his directorial feature debut Get Out. Before the upcoming film, he had also directed 2019’s Us starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke.

Nope is a production by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures, with Peele and Ian Cooper attached as producers. The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on July 22, 2022.

Dionne Warwick and Chance the Rapper have a new song together. It’s called “Nothing’s Impossible”; check it out below. The seemingly unlikely collaboration was the result of a connection the two artists made after after the R&B legend tweeted about Chance’s name back in December. (“Hi @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this.”)

In January, Warwick confirmed that she would be joining Chance in the studio for a collaboration between the two artists and their charities: Chance’s SocialWorks and Warwick’s Hunger: Not Impossible.

Students at Doctors Charter School had the opportunity to meet and interview Grammy Award winning Cuban pianist and composer Chucho Valdés and see a live performance of his newest AfroCuban Jazz music. Tracy Fields from WLRN also gave students a lecture on Chucho Valdes and the history of AfroCuban Jazz music.

Thank you to Lakeisha Firth and Jazz Roots for this wonderful opportunity. Jazz Roots is a outreach program at the Adrienne Arsht Center that allows local middle and high school students to attend the Sound Check, Lecture, and performances with Jazz artists throughout the school year.

This Is Us is returning to NBC in January, and the network has released photos and a new trailer for the final season of the drama. Starring Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, Jon Huertas, Niles Fitch, Logan Shroyer, Hannah Zeile, Mackenzie Hancsicsak, Parker Bates, Lonnie Chavis, Eris Baker, and Faithe Hermann the series follows the Pearson family.

Season six will have Rebecca dealing with the loss of her memory. TV Line revealed more about the upcoming season. Viewers will see “The Big Three’s 41st birthday, Jack Damon as an adult (probably in a flashforward), Miguel and Nicky gazing at (probably) Rebecca, Madison opening a door, Randall and Beth being their #couplegoals selves, Déja and Malik dancing, Philip watching Kate cry at their school and a flashback to when The Big Three were little.”

Inside the Celebration Honoring the Andy Warhol Museum and a Vatican-Backed Exhibition

Support for the arts? We love it. On Monday night, two of our editors made their way to the Bryant Park Grill for a celebratory dinner and auction marking the opening night of Andy Warhol: Revelation—a brand new exhibition at our beloved Brooklyn Museum and guest-curated by the Chief curator of The Andy Warhol Museum, José Carlos Diaz. “Although his Catholicism was compartmentalized, like his sexuality, this can be better understood in the exhibition,” said Diaz to Interview about Revelation. The evening—full of strong cocktails and sparkling company—was followed by a spin through the Brooklyn Museum where the exhibition will be on view through June of next year. Below, Interview editors wax poetic about their night on the town.

ERNESTO MACIAS: A party honoring Andy Warhol, hosted by the director of THE Andy Warhol Museum? Honestly, a must-go. So, I put on my yellow sunglasses and made my way to Bryant Park. Billy Porter and Kaws co-hosted the dinner—hot—and I watched Renell Medrano and ASAP Ferg talk art with the co-curators of the exhibition for hours, while Interview legend Patrick McMullan captured the night’s vibes. Cheers to the guest across from me who bought two paintings for 30K in the first 15 min. We love support for the arts.

MITCHELL NUGENT: My love for art auctions is almost as fervent as my love for drinking martinis on an empty stomach. Luckily for me, the Warhol Museum dinner on Monday night provided a sublime opportunity to partake in both. As a rule of thumb, I try to avoid Monday events of every kind, as Tuesday hangovers are simply intolerable. But this invitation drew me in—particularly because Bob Colacello, one of my idols and Interview’s former editor, was rumored to be attending. Post-welcome drinks, I scoured the Bryant Park Grill for my seating assignment, only to find Mr. Colacello’s place card just a few seats away from my own. He didn’t show, but that’s alright.”

MACIAS: I had my main character moment walking down Eastern Parkway to the Museum. The show took me back to my Tumblr days, seeing Andy’s Knives literally everywhere. There were pieces I had never seen before, like a big cross diptych. I grew up Catholic, so that one hit home for me, as did Andy’s general worship of women—Marilyn, Jackie, and his mother. I was surprised to learn that the exhibition started thanks to the Vatican—kinda hot, right?

NUGENT: I had a House of Gucci hangover on the night of our Museum visit. Even though I didn’t have a single drink at the film’s premiere the night before—only Dasani water and stale popcorn—the cacophony of attempted Italian accents in that film left me reeling on my way to visit Andy Warhol: Revelation. Even so, I just have to say: WOW. I’ve been more than two dozen Warhol exhibitions, and Revelation easily breaks into the top five for me. The curators resurfaced so many rarely-seen works from Warhol’s oeuvre that I’ve never experienced IRL. I’m already planning my next visit.
