Nation of Language Sign to Sub Pop, Announce Tour, and Share New Video: Watch

0

Nation of Language have a new label home. The Brooklyn trio of Ian Richard Devaney, Aidan Noell, and Alex MacKay have signed to Sub Pop and shared their debut single for the renowned Seattle indie label. “Inept Apollo” is accompanied by a music video directed by John MacKay. Watch it below, and keep an eye out for a brief cameo from the Sub Pop logo.

“It is an homage to creative pursuits, and in some ways came to represent the feeling of living in a city as an artist,” Devaney said of MacKay’s clip in a press statement. “The video feels like walking through an old warehouse in Brooklyn, full of practice spaces and studios, each room occupied by artists striving to express and understand themselves and their place in the world.”

After supporting Death Cab for Cutie at the Seattle and Chicago stops of their Plans 20th Anniversary Tour, Nation of Language will embark on an extensive headlining tour of North America, the U.K., and Europe. The run of shows extends from August 21 through November 28 and includes a three-night stand at Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York. Scroll down to see all of the band’s announced 2025 dates.

Chorus:
All my pride is all I have
(Pride is what you had, baby girl, I’m what you have)
You’ll be needin’ me, but too bad
(Be easy, don’t make decisions when you mad)
The path you chose to run alone
(I know you’re independent, you can make it on your own)
Here with me you had a home, oh, yeah
(But time is of the essence, why spend it alone, huh)

X Director Ti West’s Next Horror Movie Gets Title

0

The potential name of Ti West‘s next horror movie has potentially been revealed, giving us a small peek into what the X and MaXXXine director might be working on.

What is the name of Ti West’s next movie?

According to a report from World of Reel, West is planning on entering into a production on a film titled Scream Queen next month. The film will reportedly film in Ireland beginning on June 3, and essentially no information about the project has made its way out.

While West has said that he is officially done with the X trilogy and subsequent franchise it spawned, the title of the movie does suggest it will be a horror movie of sorts. Currently, no casting information, plot details, or even confirmation that a project is getting underway next month has made its way out as of yet.

West rose to superstardom as a director following the 2022 release of X. That film followed the story of a cast and crew gathering to make an adult film on an elderly couple’s property. A prequel, Pearl, was released just six months later, and saw Mia Goth playing a younger version of Pearl, the character she also played in X.

Following Pearl’s release, a third film set in the universe, MaXXXine, was released last year. Goth once again starred in the film, playing Maxine Minx, the character she played in X alongside playing the role of an older Pearl.

How to Train Your Dragon Video Unveils New Look at Gerard Butler’s Return

0

Universal Pictures has released a brand new How to Train Your Dragon video for the upcoming live-action remake of DreamWorks Animation’s blockbuster franchise. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 13, 2025.

“On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast, Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society,” reads the official synopsis. “With the fierce and ambitious Astrid and the village’s quirky blacksmith Gobber by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding. As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.”

Check out the How to Train Your Dragon video below (watch more trailers):

What happens in the How to Train Your Dragon video?

The video offers more behind-the-scenes footage from the highly-anticipated remake, giving spotlight to the production team’s incredible work on bringing the Village of Berk to life. It also features a closer look at franchise star Gerard Butler‘s live-action debut as Stoick the Vast, a character he voiced throughout three animated movies.

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie is written, directed, and produced by Oscar nominee Dean DeBlois, based on Cressida Cowell’s children’s book series of the same name. The ensemble cast includes Mason Thames as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, Nick Frost as Gobber the Belch, Julian Dennison as Fishlegs, Gabriel Howell as Snotlout, Browyn James as Ruffnut, and Harry Trevaldwyn as Tuffnut. Additional cast members include Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur. It is also produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, with David Cain and Michael A. Connolly executive producing.

Smerz: “Feisty” Track Review | Pitchfork

0

As Smerz, Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt are interested in the uncanny valleys and surreal messes of young adulthood, down to the Bama rush-meets-Blair Witch cover art of 2018’s Have fun EP. Their forthcoming new record, Big city life, is a series of nights out on the town plumed in cigarette smoke, and “Feisty” might be the rowdiest of the bunch, like an episode of Girls (which turned 13 yesterday) in miniature. Time skips around when you’re on the verge of blacking out, and Stoltenberg’s droll narration glimpses the moments—checking your ass in the bathroom mirror, running into the guy you matched with on Tinder months ago, futilely petitioning the DJ to change the track—that disappear in a strobe flash. With chintzy string stabs and grime-caked live drums, she and Motzfeldt are on their ESG shit, and the only question worth taking seriously is Can you move to it? Like most parties, “Feisty” ends with a moment of introspection, maybe regret, but I’m partial to this earlier line: “Hey girl, I really wanna be your friend/Let us talk and dance until the end.” The end of the night? The end of time? Out on the floor, it hardly matters.
