At a hearing via video link, a New York judge said she would remain in custody while awaiting trial on charges of trafficking minors for Epstein.

Ms Maxwell, who pleaded not guilty, will go on trial in July 2021.

Her lawyers had said she was at risk of contracting coronavirus in prison.

Epstein died in prison on 10 August 2019 as he awaited his trial on sex trafficking charges. His death was determined to be suicide.

Ms Maxwell, who was arrested on 2 July 2020, faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted.

The British socialite denies grooming underage girls for the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

US Correspondent David Grossman reports and Emily Maitlis is joined from Chicago by former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti.

0

Students, teammates and school administrators at the University of Utah are heart-broken and mourning the tragic and senseless death of one of their own.

Salt Lake City Police confirmed Aaron Lowe, a cornerback for the University of Utah football team who has played in all four of the current season’s games, was shot dead at a house party over the weekend.

According to ABC4, the shooting occurred around 12:20 a.m., early Sunday morning (September 26) in the neighborhood of Sugar House. An unidentified woman was left in critical condition. Police are under the belief that this shooting happened after uninvited guests were told to leave the party. No arrests have been made and the incident is still under investigation as police search for the person responsible for the 21-year old’s death.

The shooting comes less than a year after former U of U player and Lowe’s best friend Ty Jordan died in an accidental shooting in December 2020. The two played high school football together. The two were so connected that Lowe was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship, which was created to honor the late 19-year-old running back. When Jordan passed, Lowe switched his jersey number from 2 to 22 in honor of his friend.

Head Coach Kyle Whittingham released a statement, following the news of Lowe’s death.

“We are devastated to hear about the passing of Aaron Lowe. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aaron’s family and friends, along with the other individual who was harmed in this tragic incident. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother, and son and was loved by anyone who crossed paths with him. He will be deeply missed.”

University of Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan also released a statement:

“We are devastated by the loss of Aaron Lowe earlier this morning. Aaron was a terrific young man, a leader on our football team, and a rock of resiliency and courage. Our prayers are with Aaron’s family, friends, teammates and all who knew and loved him. We also express our deepest concern for the other individual who has been hospitalized as a result of this tragic incident. We have been in communication with Aaron’s family and we are providing support to them, as well as to the student-athletes, coaches and staff in all of our athletics programs, and our focus will remain on them.”

The Mesquite, Texas,-born football player is survived by his parents, one sister, and three brothers.

DECISIONS WE MAKE AFTER MIDNIGHT (Decisions in Durham Book 1) by RACHEL HIGGINSON

0

‘It was life. I wanted to start living a life that was mine and not just watching from the outside.’

We’ve loved books by Rachel Higginson in the past so when Decisions We Make After Midnight, book one in her new series Decisions in Durham landed on our kindles we jumped straight in. We were immediately swept up in a sweet and funny romance. Lola Ellis is stuck in a life that’s been mapped out for her by her parents and she’s about to make the biggest commitment of her life, under what you may call ‘duress’ or heavy family pressure. Taking a timeout to go into hiding at her best mate’s house, Lola finds herself in unchartered waters when she applies for a waitress job and becomes spellbound by one of the bar owners. She’s so far out of her comfort zone and her ‘beige’ life that everything becomes a tad overwhelming but oh so very interesting suddenly. Keeping who she is and what her family does a secret, Lola not only finds strength and conviction she never knew was within her, but she also finds a man she never knew she needed in her life.

“You’re playing with fire, Lola.”
“I’m not scared…Not of you, Will English.”
“Maybe you should be.”

Will English is such a moody and stand-off-ish bloke, but hey, that’s what makes him so appealing, a serious but fabulous personality, with that attractive sarcastic dry wit. You just know there’s going to be so much more to this man than meets the eye. Between him and his two siblings, the bar they own comes across as a bit of a madhouse. But a posh one at that! We have to say, we were so intrigued by them all and hope they get their own book too.

‘Nothing about Will was forgettable. Not last night nor all the nights before.  Not even this morning. He didn’t just stop by for a brief hello during my life. He’d barged in, cleared out a whole lot of space, and set up camp.’

This romance was a real feel-good read, it’s also a wonderfully slow build despite that initial strong attraction. The characters had great connection and chemistry, as well as maturity and hilarious banter. The romance was swoony and somehow vulnerable, as both Lola and Will reassessed their priorities and what they want out of life. We do have to admit that one part made our hearts break for Will after a certain scene with Lola, and we questioned the why’s of it. Whilst we applauded her convictions of change, the way she went about it seemed unnecessary and created a drama that wasn’t needed in this beautiful story. True love can come with great sacrifices but what you gain can truly be worth it in the end! Now excuse us while we go make some cocktails…. courtesy of Will English of course!

“Well, if there had to be one who got away, she might as well have been the best damn catch, I could have imagined.”

Onyx Collective launched recently with the purpose to release and highlight work from creators of color and other underrepresented voices. The series, titled Reasonable Doubt, will come from executive producers Kerry Washington and Larry Wilmore and will stream on Hulu, with Washington set to direct the first episode.

Reasonable Doubt will star Emayatzy Corinealdi (Ballers) as a defense attorney and will be written by Raamla Mohamed, who is also attached to the series as an executive producer. The series will center on Jax Stewart, a lawyer with “questionable ethics” who also happens to be one of the most brilliant defense attorneys in all of Los Angeles.

“Simpson Street was founded with the belief that we are each the lead character in the story of our lives regardless of who we are, where we are born, what we believe or who we love,” Kerry Washington said in a statement regarding the move. “Each of us deserves to be and to see ourselves at the center of the narrative. It’s a privilege to partner with Onyx, a brand dedicated to centering creators of color and underrepresented voices, on their first scripted drama series.

This is a proud moment for all of us at Simpson Street and we could not ask for better partners all around.”

Eminem and Polo G Join Skylar Grey and Mozzy on New Venom Song: Listen

0

Eminem and Polo G join Skylar Grey on a new song in the upcoming Venom sequel. It’s called “Last One Standing,” and it appears in the Tom Hardy-starring Marvel film Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which hits theaters Friday (October 1). Mozzy also appears on the single. Listen to it below.

Back in 2018, Eminem contributed to a track to Venom, the first of the two films. Run the Jewels also recorded a song for the movie called “Let’s Go (The Royal We).”

Of “Last One Standing,” Skylar Grey said in a press release:

Over the past year I’ve been very selective about the projects I work on, outside of working on my album. I’ve really been putting focus on finding the right collaborations and the right film/tv projects. The way this song came together was kind of the perfect storm. Venom is one of my favorite superheroes because he’s an antihero and I relate to that. Also Tom Hardy is one of my favorite actors. So I’m honored to be a part of this.
