Turning Tables: 4 Saints Reopens, Reinvented Under New Culinary Direction of Executive Chef Ysaac Ramirez

0

Taking the lead of 4 Saints is Executive Chef Ysaac Ramirez, who reintroduces the celebrated Palm Springs rooftop dining destination with a fresh take on modern American fare. A California native who refined his craft in the South, Ramirez applies his distinct culinary style, rooted in contemporary Southern comfort with Latin influence, to elevated desert dining at the newly re-concepted 4 Saints.

Ramirez is a reputable culinary artist in both the local Palm Springs and national hospitality landscapes. He most recently held the position of executive chef at King’s Highway at Ace Hotel & Swim Club where he introduced an eclectic mix of comfort food with a Southern twist. His decade-plus career also includes tenures with acclaimed, James Beard-nominated chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman, working at several of the duo’s restaurants in Memphis and New Orleans, notably serving on the opening culinary teams at the award-winning Hog & Hominy, Josephine Estelle and The Gray Canary.

“Southern hospitality is in my DNA, and with Kimpton’s culture of heartfelt care, this feels like where I am meant to be. Joining the Kimpton family has always been a dream of mine,” says Executive Chef Ysaac Ramirez. “I can’t wait to make my mark here and introduce creative flavor profiles to the Palm Springs dining scene that celebrate my heritage and ‘everything from scratch’ approach.”

Familiar yet personal, Ramirez’s 4 Saints menu is an ode to the traditions, notes and techniques that have shaped his way of cooking. Combined with high-quality ingredients sourced from Southern California’s finest ranches, farms and waters, the result is a soulful interpretation of dry-aged steaks, fresh-caught seafood and seasonal vegetables infused with bold, smoky flavors.

Signature dishes from the grill include a 28-day Flannery New York Strip with celery root, nira chive chimichurri and garlic blossomFlannery Tomahawk with pommes aligot and fennel blossoms; and Peads & Barnetts Bone-In Pork Chop with radicchio, mustard blossom and plum agrodolce. Among notable small plates are the Marsh Hen Mill Cornbread with sorghum, pecans, crispy chicken skin, cultured butter and chiveLobster Roll with crème fraîche, paddlefish caviar and chive on a brioche bun; and Roasted Beets with citrus, pistachio butter, parmesan crumble, ninja radish and pink watercress.

A compilation of specialty cocktails, modernized riffs on classics and an extensive wine list round out the beverage offerings, complementing the dinner menu along with stunning views of the San Jacinto Mountains and Coachella Valley from the restaurant’s perch atop Palm Springs’ tallest venue, seven stories up.

With his appointment, Ramirez also takes the reins as executive chef of Juniper Table, the all-day dining concept adjacent to the lobby of Kimpton The Rowan Palm Springs; the chic, poolside High Bar lounge and restaurant; and banquets and catering for the hotel.

Initial hours for 4 Saints are 5-10 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. 4 Saints is located at 100 W. Tahquitz Canyon Way within downtown Palm Springs’ The Block. For more information on 4 Saints, visit www.4saintspalmsprings.com or follow @4saintspalmsprings on Instagram.

0

The biggest night in hip hop is happening on BET Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 9:00 PM ET/PT. And the official nominees for the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards have been announced.

Cardi B and Meg Thee Stallion are neck and neck this year with nine nominations each. Although they’re no strangers to the BET Hip Hop Awards stage, with both having won their fair amount in the past, Megan had seven noms last year and the Bronx queen just lead 2019’s ceremony with 10.

Without a mixtape or a studio album, Cardi is nominated twice for “Best Hip Hop Video” (”WAP” and “Up”), “Best Collaboration” (“WAP”), “Song of The Year” (“WAP” and “Up”) “Best Featured Verse” (“WAP”), “Best Live Performer”, “Hip Hop Artist of The Year” and “Hustler of the Year”.

Megan, who shares noms with Cardi on “WAP” for “Best Hip Hop Video”, “Best Collaboration” and “Song of The Year”, is also being recognized for her efforts on Lil Baby’s “On Me” remix in the “Best Featured Verse” category, “Best Live Performer”, “Lyricist of The Year”, “Hip Hop Artist of the Year”, and “Hustler of The Year”.

“Our 2021 ‘BET Hip Hop Awards’ nominees span generations and are a representation of the talented individuals who elevate hip hop culture in creative and diverse ways. We congratulate each of them on these sought-after accolades,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy for BET. “We can’t wait to join forces with the best in hip hop and deliver a one-of-a-kind show in Atlanta.”

Similarly, Drake, who follows Cardi and Megan with eight nominations, is doing so without his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, making the cutoff for award consideration. His 2020 single, “Laugh Now, Cry Later” with Lil Durk received recognition in the “Best Hip Hop Video”, “Song of The Year”, and “Best Collaborations” categories. In fact, the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper has two noms in the collaboration category, as his joint effort on 21 Savage’s “Mr. Right Now” got a nom as well. Additionally, Drake is up for “Best Featured Verse” for his work on the Migos’ “Havin’ Our Way”, “Best Lyricist” and “Hustler of The Year” and “Hip Hop Artist of The Year”.

Additionally, “Best New Hip Hop Artist” Award nominees include BLXST, Coi Leray, Don Toliver, Morray, Pooh Shiesty and Yung Bleu.

Stars Tom Ellis & Lauren German Talk Final Season

0

The end is nigh… or at least, the end of Lucifer is nigh. Before you binge through the final season on September 10 (get the tissues ready, trust me), spend some time with Lucifer stars Tom Ellis (Lucifer) and Lauren German (Chloe).

“This is it, the final season of Lucifer. For real this time,” reads the official (spoiler-free) synopsis. “The devil himself has become God… almost. Why is he hesitating? And as the world starts to unravel without a God, what will he do in response? Join us as we say a bittersweet goodbye to Lucifer, Chloe, Amenadiel, Maze, Linda, Ella, and Dan. Bring tissues.”

ComingSoon’s Alyse Wax spoke with Lucifer stars Tom Ellis and Lauren German about some happier topics that include singing, dancing, and fake penises.

Check out the video interview below:
