What’s This TV Show About?

A stage magic series, Masters of Illusion debuted on Pax TV in 2000 and ran for two seasons before moving to MyNetworkTV for a third year before being cancelled. In 2014, The CW revived it on Friday nights. Dean Cain hosts the series, which features magicians performing escapes, large-scale illusions, and sleight-of-hand tricks in front of a live audience.

Telly’s Take

Will The CW cancel or renew Masters of Illusion for an 11th season? When the network announced that the show would air as part of the Fall 2020 schedule, it looked like that would be season 11. The CW has since confirmed to us that the fall episodes are considered part of an extended 10th season.  I’m confident that Masters will still be renewed but we don’t have any confirmation yet.  I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on Masters of Illusion cancellation or renewal news.

4/29/21 update: Masters of Illusion has been renewed for an 11th season.

BurgerFi Appoints Vivian Lopez-Blanco to its Board of Directors

0

BurgerFi International, Inc. (Nasdaq: BFI, BFIIW) (“BurgerFi” or the “Company”), one of the nation’s fastest-growing premium fast-casual concepts, has appointed Vivian Lopez-Blanco to its board of directors, effective July 14, 2021. Lopez-Blanco’s appointment follows the sudden passing of board member Steven Berrard announced on June 10, 2021. Lopez-Blanco has also been named as the chair of the audit committee and will be serving on the compensation committee and nominating governance committee.

Lopez-Blanco is an experienced board member and seasoned finance executive with expertise in organizational transformations and driving profitable growth. Currently, she serves as a board member of Jumptuit Health, Inc. and previously served as an advisory board member of BBVA, South Florida operations. Prior to her board positions, Lopez-Blanco served as the chief financial officer for Mednax, Inc. (NYSE: MD), a national medical group specializing in prenatal, neonatal and pediatric services. Before that, Lopez-Blanco was the chief financial officer for the Hispanic restaurants division of Carrols Corporation (Nasdaq: TAST), one of the largest restaurant franchisees in North America.

Early in her career, Lopez-Blanco spent several years at Arthur Andersen, an international accounting firm, progressing through different management roles and gaining deep experience in public company reporting. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida International University and is a certified public accountant.

“After an extensive search process to fill Steve’s position on our board and to lead our audit committee, we could not be happier to have Vivian join us,” said Ophir Sternberg, executive chairman of BurgerFi. “As BurgerFi embarks on its next chapter of growth and seeks to capitalize on its expansion plans, Vivian brings a wealth of knowledge to our board given her public-company expertise and proven track record leading organizations from a financial perspective through periods of growth. We are confident she will be a valuable asset to the board and look forward to the guidance she will provide.”

Commenting on her appointment, Lopez-Blanco stated: “I am extremely pleased to join the board of this dynamic concept with tremendous growth potential and collaborate alongside such a seasoned management team that contains proven veterans in the sector.”

The appointment of Lopez-Blanco to BurgerFi’s board of directors has satisfied the Nasdaq continued listing requirement discussed in the 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on June 25, 2021.

The Wrong House aka House Hunting – BEST HOLLYWOOD HORROR

Two dysfunctional house-hunting families arrive at a remote farm property only to find that they literally cannot leave.

Starring the legendary Beastmaster (Marc Singer,)The Wrong House is the mind-melting story of two different families on a quest for the perfect home, who end up trapped together in a (literally!) inescapable nightmare. After the Hays and Thomson families converge at an open house at a deserted farmhouse, it soon becomes clear that something isn’t right. And once they try to leave, they all end up right back at the front door, again and again. Stuck in this purgatory together, they are tormented by the vengeful former owner, who seems intent on destroying them.

Disney’s Jungle Cruise Takes Control of the Box Office

0

The box office received a much needed shot in the arm this weekend via Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s adventure film Jungle Cruise, based on the Disneyland attraction of the same name, which hauled in $34.2 million in North America, $27.6 million internationally, and $30 million from Disney+ (mostly from U.S. subscribers) for a not-too-shabby $90M opening weekend gross.

That opening nearly matches Johnson’s Rampage, which opened to $35.7 million in 2018, and surpassed Space Jam: A New Legacy’s $31 million domestic opening two weeks prior. In other words, for all the talk about how COVID is affecting the box office, it’s clear families are willing to venture to theaters to watch the latest event film.

Interestingly, Deadline reports that some around the industry aren’t too excited about Jungle Cruise‘s opening, which pales in comparison to its tentpole-sized $362 million budget (including distribution and marketing expenses). The big question is whether Jungle Cruise will continue to draw big numbers through the month of August, or if it will face a drop similar to Black Widow and Space Jam — a problem many blame on the simultaneous openings on HBO Max and Disney+.

Elsewhere, A24’s The Green Knight opened to $6.78 million from 2,790 theaters, surpassing the $6.56 million total earned by the studio’s Midsommar in 2019. Naturally, audience scores (54% fresh on RT) for the arthouse pic directly contrast critical scores (89% on RT), so it’ll be interesting to see how the fantasy epic fares in the coming weeks.

The only other new release this week was the Matt Damon vehicle Stillwater, which opened with $5.1 million from 2,531 theaters, or right in line with what Focus Features expected.

Last week’s top dogs, namely Old and Snake Eyes, dropped considerably in the second week. Old dropped 60% (on par with 2006’s Lady in the Water) for a $6.76 million total, while the G.I. Joe prequel dipped 70% and collected $4 million. All told, Shyamalan’s latest thriller has amassed $30.6 million in ten days, while Snake Eyes has collected $22.2 million.

Excision Teases Big Announcement Coming This Week [DETAILS]

0

Excision is gearing up for something huge!

The teaser video below draws his logo in the sand, along with a rather specific message: “Announcement coming August 3rd at 12 PM PT.” Given the nature of the waves and music in the background, all signs point to destination festival.

Commenters on the thread have already dubbed the suspected event as “Beach Lands.” Although, no further information is offered up at this time. Please, keep in mind this is purely speculation.

Just recently, Excision confirmed a forthcoming album in 2021. He shared in a previous post, “Love seeing the crowd go crazy to Decimate! Will be on the new album later this year ;)”
