T.J. Osborne Addresses “Hurdles” in Country Music After Coming Out

Country singer T.J. Osborne is feeling freer now than he ever expected to after publicly coming out as gay.

Following the 36-year-old Brothers Osborne frontman sharing his story in a TIME magazine interview on Wednesday, Feb. 3, he opened up during his Feb. 4 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about the intense emotions associated with this journey.

“Just hearing you say that just honestly made me so emotional,” the performer said in a preview video from the episode after host Ellen DeGeneres mentioned in his introduction that he had just come out. “I’m trying not to cry on national television right now.”

T.J. explained that this has been a new experience for him, given that he is not typically one to share much about his personal life.

“I think it’s kind of the really beautiful thing in all of this for me is, I’ve really never come out to very many people,” he shared. “I’ve only done it to a few people, mainly because I find it just really awkward and uncomfortable. And so it has been a really wild experience to have come out to very few people, although a lot of my friends and family knew already, to then kind of come out publicly in one big fell swoop, which was in some ways nice, in other ways just made for a very emotional day.”

In the Dark: Season Four; CW Series Already Renewed for 2021-22 – canceled + renewed TV shows

In the Dark TV show on The CW: season 4 renewal ahead of season 3 premiere

Viewers will be able to continue following Muphy’s unique life. The CW has renewed the In the Dark drama series for a fourth season which will air as part of the 2021-22 television season (September 2021 through August 2022). The third season will air at some point during the current 2020-21 season. It’s unclear how many episodes will be in either season but the show typically gets 13 installment orders.

The In the Dark TV show stars Perry Mattfeld, Rich Sommer, Brooke Markham, Casey Deidrick, Keston John, Morgan Krantz, and Theodore Bhat. In the series, Murphy (Mattfeld) is a messy twenty-something who struggles on a daily basis to balance her random hookups, her hangovers, and her drug front. She’s also blind. Murphy lives with her supportive best friend, Jess (Markham). Along with their anal-retentive boss (and sometimes a friend), Felix (Krantz), they run Guiding Hope, a school for guide dogs. But, solving the murder of Murphy’s best friend, Tyson, lands her deep in the world of Chicago’s underground heroin trade where she is forced to turn Guiding Hope into a front for a drug kingpin.

Airing last spring and summer, the second season of In the Dark averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 424,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 45% in the demo and down by 33% in viewership. As live+same day ratings keep dropping for most network shows, The CW continues to focus on streaming and other revenue sources.

As part of the fourth season renewal announcement, Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO of The CW network, said, “Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season.”

The CW also renewed 11 other TV shows today — All American (season four), Batwoman (season three), Charmed (season four), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season seven), Dynasty (season five), The Flash (season eight), Legacies (season four), Nancy Drew (season three), Riverdale (season six), Roswell, New Mexico (season four), and Walker (season two).

5 Marvel Characters Tom Hanks Would Be Perfect To Play

Did you know that Tom Hanks was once considered to be Michael Keaton’s replacement as the lead in Batman Forever? It is still a little hard to imagine even a ‘90s-era Hanks as the Caped Crusader, but the concept does intrigue me, even if it may seem that his chance to star in a superhero movie has come and gone. However, I would argue that the Marvel movies have a few currently uncasted roles that would be a pretty good fit.

The beloved 64-year-old Toy Story star can play just about any type of character (with two Academy Awards under his belt for 1993’s Philadelphia and Forrest Gump to prove it) and is not afraid to take on every type of genre. Not to mention, the man was strong enough to survive one of the first high profile celebrity cases of Covid-19. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, it seems to me that Tom Hanks would be up for the task of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a future big screen or even small screen installment.

Questlove’s Summer of Soul Documentary Wins Sundance 2021 Grand Jury Prize

The 2021 Sundance Film Festival concluded tonight by awarding the top jury prizes to films that premiered at the event. The Questlove-directed Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)—a film about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival—was awarded the U.S. Documentary Competition’s Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. Questlove reacted to the news on Twitter: “OOOOMMMGGGGHGGG WE DID IT.”

“It has always been a dream of mine to direct films and telling this story has truly been an amazing experience,” Questlove wrote in a statement. “I am overwhelmed and honored by the reception the film is receiving and want to give special thanks to Sundance, and my production partners: Radical Media, Vulcan Productions, Concordia, Play/Action Pictures and LarryBilly Productions.”

The film made its world premiere at this year’s festival. It features footage that sat unseen in a basement for 50 years. Stevie Wonder, the Staples Singers, Nina Simone, Sly and the Family Stone, and other icons appear in the film.
