I have been looking for this cd for a while i will not loan out this one. this is a must have for any Noel Pointer fans.
Noel Pointed was one of my favorite jazz-fusion artists. HIs early death was so sad, but thank goodness his recordings still remain. His music never fails to reach me. Wish Amazon carried a few more of his recordings.
Actually this was the wrong album that I ordered but, the music is great. There is such variety on this album, if you like this artist, you’ll love this CD.
This recording released in 1977 helped paved the way for the acceptance of the violin as a jazz instrument. Night Noise is an extremely haunting selection which takes the mind on an endless journey.
Contrary to public belief Noel Pointer released at least five recordings. They just never matched his first offering. He was also a very gifted singer like his mother who was an opera singer.
I did get to see Noel Pointer perform twice , in NY and it was a exciting and memorable experience, that is why I never forgot. Even if you are not an enthusiatic about violin, you will be when you hear this CD.
He was my first introduction to a jazz violinist and all I can say is that he leaves me wanting for more, and more of his music
Hard to believe that I first listen to this album 40 years ago. It was my introduction to “jazz”. I believe he released 8 or more albums all well done, though I believe Phantazia to be his best.
Sadly he pass at a very early age. Please listen to the samples, particularly “Fiddler on the roof” my favorite.
I first listened to this in High School back in 1977-78 and fell in love with it! I have been searching for it since the 1980s, and was dismayed when I purchased it and discovered Noel had passed on more than 20 years ago.
Innovative approach to jazz/fusion featuring a violin–you really must hear it to believe it! Noel had a unique talent and left us way too soon.
A sound that was like no other, saw him in concert, he was fabulous.
