Emily Blunt’s 4-Year-Old Daughter Somehow Picked Up a Cockney Accent

0

Emily Blunt‘s kids are apparently ready in case anyone needs them to join, say, an adaptation of Oliver Twist.

The actress guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, Dec. 10, where she explained to the host that she and husband John Krasinski have been staying in London since August with daughters Hazel, 6, and Violet, 4. As it turns out, the girls have picked up an even more pronounced accent than their classmates, which the 37-year-old Mary Poppins Returns star couldn’t be more chuffed about.

“They’ve been in a proper school with school uniforms, and miraculously, they’re sounding quite British, which I’m completely over the moon about,” she told Jimmy Kimmel.

The key moment of delight for Emily came when a friend recorded footage of little Violet singing a Christmas classic, albeit with a notable difference.

“[Someone] sent a video of [my little one] singing ‘Jingle Bells,’ and she goes, Jaingle ol’ the woy, almost like a Cockney,” the Into the Woods performer revealed. “It was almost like Dick Van Dyke singing ‘Jingle Bells.’ The craziest accent ever—it was kind of brilliant.”

Black Panther 2 Will Not Recast T’Challa Disney Has Confirmed

Black Panther 2 Will Not Recast T’Challa

During the Disney Investor Day, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that the upcoming Black Panther II will not recast T’Challa following the death of Chadwick Boseman. Instead, the film will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the Ryan Coogler movie.

“Chadwick Boseman was an immensely talented actor and an inspirational individual who affected all of our lives professionally and personally,” Feige said (via SlashFilm). “His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends any iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past. And it’s for that reason that we will not recast the character. However, to honor the legacy that Chad helped us build through his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, we want to continue to explore the world and all the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.”

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther follows T’Challa (Boseman) who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king – and Black Panther – is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

The film stars the late Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, Oscar nominees Daniel Kaluuya and Angela Bassett. It also features Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Andy Serkis.

Based on the Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the film was directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole. Kevin Feige and David J. Grant were producers; and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeffrey Chernov, Nate Moore, and Stan Lee served as executive producers. The film was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and is currently available on Disney+.

Black Panther received seven nominations at the 91st Academy Awards including Best Picture, with wins for Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design. Black Panther is the first superhero film to receive a Best Picture nomination and the first MCU film to win an Academy Award. It also received three nominations at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, two wins at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three wins at the 24th Critics’ Choice Awards from 12 nominations, among others.

Black Panther 2 is currently slated for a May 6, 2022 release.

Tiffany Haddish Gets Apology After ‘Disrespectful’ Offer From Recording Academy | Celebs

0

The Recording Academy is apologizing to Tiffany Haddish after she called out the Grammys for inviting her to host a ceremony but refusing to pay her for the gig or even for her hair, makeup, and wardrobe.

During an interview with Variety published on Wednesday (December 9), the actress and comedian said she turned down an offer to host the Grammys pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony because she was told she would have to pay for all expenses related to the three-hour livestream without any compensation.

“All of that would have to come out of my pocket,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know if this might mean I might not get nominated ever again, but I think it’s disrespectful.”

“I was like, ‘The exposure is amazing but I think I have enough. I appreciate you guys asking. And as much as I appreciate the honor of being nominated, that’s not OK,” the 2021 nominee best comedy album added.

Harvey Mason Jr., the Interim Recording Academy President and CEO, posted an apology video to Instagram early Thursday morning. Unbeknownst to him, a talent booker for the academy told Haddish they wouldn’t cover the costs, according to Mason.

“To me, that was wrong,” he said. “I’m frustrated by that decision. It was a lapse in judgement, it was in poor taste and it was disrespectful to the creative community. I’m part of the creative community. I know what that feels like, and it’s not right.”

Mason says he’s thankful for a conversation he had with Haddish after the Variety interview happened. “I apologized to her personally and I apologized to her from the Academy, I expressed to her my regret and my displeasure about how this went down and about how this was handled,” he revealed. “Again, I want to say Tiffany, we are sorry and thank you for allowing me to speak on it.”
