Anthony Mackie to Lead & Produce Netflix’s The Ogun

After working with the streaming platform for the second season of Altered Carbon, action-thriller Point Blank and Black Mirror, Anthony Mackie is reuniting with Netflix to star in and produce a new thriller entitled The Ogun at the service.

The film, written by former stuntman-turned-action screenwriter Madison Turner, centers on Xavier Rhodes (Mackie) as he brings his teenage daughter to Nigeria to find a cure for the rare genetic condition that he’s passed on to her, but when his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes goes on a rampage through the criminal underworld to find her before it’s too late, testing his powers to the limit.

In addition to starring, Mackie will produce the project alongside Jason Michael Berman for Mandalay Pictures, who have worked with Netflix for the last three years distributing their non-theatrical titles including the drama Burning Sands, horror-comedy Little Evil, sports drama Amateur, sci-fi action pic Io, which also starred Mackie, Alfre Woodard-led drama Juanita, comedy Otherhood, dramedy Uncorked and action thriller The Last Days of American Crime.

Berman, who is currently in production on the Letitia Wright and Jamie Bell-starring drama Surrounded from Anthony Mandler (Monster), is gearing up for the January release of the supernatural drama Nine Days, which received rave reviews from critics upon its Sundance debut and brought home the festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award for Edson Oda.

Mackie recently wrapped production for Disney+’s highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will next be seen in the psychological thriller The Woman in the Window, which Netflix is currently in talks to acquire from 20th Century Studios.

Nostalgix Owns Her Sound with Much Finesse on ‘Act Out’ EP [LISTEN]

Nostalgix has mastered her craft and it comes through in remarkable ways on her newly released Act Out EP — a spunky, powerful new wave of nostalgia that’s insanely fun to listen through.

The release features four brand new productions, including the leading title track “Act Out” for which Nostalgix wrote, produced, and rapped on to intro the EP with much finesse. From there, she teams up with AC Slater, Way and Makla to bring her Act Out vision to life, each track having its own pop of personality.

Nostalgix shares in her own words:

To me, Act Out is about being the most courageous version of yourself. It’s having the courage to be who you are exactly as you are. A lot of people will try to tell you who to be, how to dress or even how to act. To me this EP is about clapping back and saying “no this is who I am, and I love every bit of it.

The Act Out EP finds its instinctive home on AC Slater’s label, Night Bass Records.

Perfume Genius has shared a new video for “Some Dream” from May’s Set My Heart on Fire Immediately. The visual, directed by Charles Grant and Hunter Ray Barker, stars Marc LeBlanc as Pigman. In the clip, LeBlanc does manual labor, plays piano, uses his laptop, and more. Watch below.

In a statement, Perfume Genius said:

The song is about the sort of dream world I keep myself in, in order to write. Sometimes I wonder if there will be real world costs for staying there too long. I don’t want to pick my head up after a bunch of years go by and see a bunch of songs but nobody to love.

Charles Grant added:

I’ve loved Mike [Hadreas]’ music for a long time. Marc LeBlanc is the star of the video—he plays the pigman. He’s an amazing actor and his performance in combination with how powerful and emotional Mike’s music is gave this whole project such amazing energy and spirit. Hunter and I are really grateful to have added to Mike’s creative world in a way that feels uniquely true to him, us, and Marc all at once…. We are all pigs.
