**SPOILER-FREE REVIEW**

‘Dascha’s sadness is palpable. He wears it on his sleeve, almost like a badge of honor. He isn’t ashamed of his imperfections, that much is clear. His mind is broken, and either he’s made his peace with it, or he’s blissfully unaware. But either way, he doesn’t shy away from the cavernous empty space inside himself.’

What did we just read? Oh wow…. Distorted by Nyla K. – we are speechless! We have never read this Author before and we went into this book completely blind. We’ll be honest with you; we did read the synopsis after a reader recommended it to us, but that’s it, we stayed away from all reviews and wow are we glad we did! Oh my. First of all, we will not talk about the story. Not at all. If you read and enjoy really dark romance, if you love suspense and hard-hitting drama, if you read m/m and like it hot, if you like to push your reading boundaries. Well, Ladies and Gents…THIS BOOK!

‘I don’t want him to know some twisted part of me enjoyed some part of what just happened. I don’t know which part…It started out as the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, but my body rarely reacts the same way my mind does.’

Please do read the trigger warnings, they are aplenty! We loved this book. Every. Single. Thing. It pushed us, it shocked us, it broke our hearts, it had us questioning ourselves and it had us crying tears of frustration. It even had us chuckling at times. It was a feast for our book-loving hearts and we have fallen in love with a new to us Author. It doesn’t get much better than that! There’s no question that this standalone in the new series: Alabaster Penitentiary by Nyla K. will stay with us for a very long time, and we cannot wait to read more.

‘That’s what they want…They want you dead, that’s why you’re here. Everyone thinks you’re dead, and now you are. You’re as good as dead.’

Warped, twisted, violent, tragic, horrific yet sweet and tender, Distorted drew us in and swallowed us whole. At no point could we look away, yet we had to take the odd break to process what we just read. Clever, agonisingly fragile yet hard-hitting, it evoked every single one of our senses and the characters stole our hearts along the way. which surprised us- until it didn’t. What a powerful read. Unique, exhilarating, and magnificent storytelling. We have no words. Other than we bloody loved it!

‘He’s Satan. That’s who he is. I’ve been fucking around with Lucifer himself.’
