Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap inks first-look TV deal at Amazon
After returning to the world of television in an executive producer and cameo position last year, Margot Robbie is keeping her small screen work alive as her co-founded production banner LuckyChap Entertainment has inked a new first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios, according to Variety.

The banner, founded in 2014 by Robbie, husband Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, previously inked a first-look deal in film and television with Warner Bros., though will now see the former three work with Amazon Studios to create series projects to premiere on the streaming platform alongside Brett Hedblom, LuckyChap’s vice president of television.
“We are so thrilled to be partnering with Amazon Studios to bring original content to the ever-burgeoning television landscape,” Robbie, Ackerley, and McNamara said in a statement. “Our hope with LuckyChap has always been to challenge narrative conformity whilst offering a platform to exciting and often over-looked voices. In Amazon we have a cultural partner who shares our passion for storytelling and through its global reach allows us and our collaborators to reach as many viewers as possible. This is the start of a very exciting journey for the company and one that we are incredibly proud to be taking with the wonderful Amazon team.”
The announcement comes as LuckyChap is currently in production on the Margaret Qualley-starring Netflix dramedy Maid, which is set to wrap in March, as well as a second season of Hulu’s feminist comedy Dollface, in which Robbie made a cameo appearance in the first season’s eighth episode.

“LuckyChap has produced sharply original, smart, and wholly engaging content over the past several years, across an incredible range of genres, and centering multifaceted, unique female characters,” Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of Television for Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “We’ve very excited for the chance to work with Tom, Josey, Margot, and Brett to create new series with the same kind of vision and focus for our Prime Video customers.”
On the film side of things, LuckyChap previously worked on the Robbie-fronted Birds of Prey, I, Tonya, Dreamland and Terminal and are currently gearing up for the release of the Carey Mulligan-led black comedy thriller Promising Young Woman, which is currently slated for a Christmas Day release, and a film adaptation of the Barbie doll, with Margot set to star, Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig set to pen the script and Gerwig in talks to helm.
