Nathan Fielder has announced that he’ll team up with the Safdie Brothers on a new scripted comedy series for Showtime called The Curse. The three will act as executive producers for the project through the Safdies’ A24, with Fielder also directing and starring in the show. He’ll appear alongside co-star Emma Stone, who is also executive producing the project through her Fruit Tree production arm. They’ll play a couple who are juggling efforts to start a family, having their own HGTV show, and reckoning with a curse, according to a press release. The series does not yet have a slated premiere date.
Fielder had previously announced that he would develop a comedy pilot with HBO following the end of his Comedy Central show Nathan for You. The Safdie Brothers’ latest project is 2019’s Uncut Gems, which had a soundtrack by Oneohtrix Point Never’s Daniel Lopatin. Uncut Gems co-director Josh Safdie and Lopatin discussed their collaboration on the soundtrack in a behind-the-scenes documentary produced by Moog Music in January. More recently, the Safdies co-directed a new video for Oneohtrix Point Never’s “Lost But Never Alone.”
