New Radicals broke up in 1999—just months after the release of their 1998 single ā€œYou Get What You Give.ā€ On Wednesday, January 20, the band will reunite for the first time in 22 years to perform their hit single as part of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ virtual ā€œParade Across Americaā€ inauguration event, Rolling Stone reports. New Radicals will close the parade that takes place after the swearing-in ceremony.

ā€œIf there’s one thing on Earth that would possibly make us get the band together, if only for a day, it is the hope that our song could be even the tiniest beacon of light in such a dark time,ā€ New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander said in a statement.

During the campaign, the song became the walk-on music of choice for Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff. Joe Biden has talked about how the song became important to their family during his son Beau Biden’s final days.Ā

ā€œDuring breakfast, Beau would often make me listen to what I thought was his theme song, ā€˜You Get What You Give’ by the New Radicals,ā€ Biden wrote in his memoir Promise Me, Dad. ā€œPerforming the song again after such a long time is a huge honor because we all have deep respect for Beau’s military service and such high hopes for the unity and normalcy Joe and Kamala will bring our country again in this time of crisis,ā€ Alexander added.

The Inauguration Day celebrations will also feature performances from Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, John Legend, and others.

ā€œYou Get What You Giveā€ was named one of Pitchfork’s ā€œTop 200 Tracks of the 1990s.ā€
