The memorial service for the late DMX was held today at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tough the in-person event itself was limited to friends and family due to COVID-19 restrictions, the memorial was broadcast live online via DMX’s YouTube channel. Watch the archived recording of the proceedings below.
During the memorial, the Sunday Service choir performed several gospel standards, with the late rapper’s children sharing remarks during one break between performances. Nas delivered a brief eulogy early in the program. Ruff Ryders label co-founders Waah Dean and Dee Dean spoke later, as did Eve, Swizz Beatz, and Jadakiss, with several members of the expansive hip-hop collective joining them onstage.
As ABC7 reports, hundreds of motorcyclists drove through downtown Brooklyn in the leadup to the memorial, led by a Ruff Ryders monster truck carrying DMX’s coffin. “The Ruff Ryders 2 The Rescue: Ryde 4 Life” made its way from Yonkers Raceway south to Barclays Center through the day. Find footage from that below as well.
