Kate Winslet is diving into Pandora with both feet for the Avatar sequels… literally. Winslet will be playing the new character Ronal, who is a Na’vi from the Metkayina tribe. As a result, she’s filming her role in the franchise via motion capture, while also doing a ton of work in the water since said tribe are free divers that live on a reef. So once again she’s working with James Cameron on a movie that requires hours spent in the water. It’s kind of their thing.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is the new Netflix film, out December 18, that stars Viola Davis as blues icon Ma Rainey and the late Chadwick Boseman in his final on-screen performance. Amazon Studios has successfully acquired the global rights to Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited comedy sequel Coming 2 America for a reported $125 million deal. Originally scheduled for a December 18, 2020 release, the Eddie Murphy-led film will now be available for streaming on Friday, March 5, 2021, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
“Coming to America was a cultural phenomenon that is one of the most loved and celebrated comedies of all time,” Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “Thanks to Eddie Murphy’s comedic genius along with the brilliant filmmakers, writers and fabulous cast, we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this new adventure. We know audiences around the world will fall in love with this hilarious, joyful movie that will surely become a timeless favorite.”

Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, Coming 2 America continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.

The original film was directed by John Landis in 1988 and starred Murphy as a wealthy African prince who comes to Queens, New York posing as a poor man to search for a bride. It became a box-office hit with a worldwide gross of more than $280 million.
Classixx and Local Natives have teamed up for a single titled “Weekends.” It’s one of two new collaborations from the Los Angeles acts. The next song, “Francesca,” is set to come out on December 3. Listen to “Weekends” below.
“These two songs were made as a collaboration in the true sense of the word,” Classixx said in a statement. “We met the Local Natives guys at a wedding in Mexico and immediately connected. They’re such a vibrant live band and it was important to us that their musicianship and vocal harmony came through.
