1000-lb Best Friends: Four Work Together to Change Their Lives in New TLC Series – canceled + renewed TV shows

0

1,000-lb Best Friends is coming to TLC. The series will follow four best friends as they work to change their lives for the better. The series arrives on the network next month.

TLC revealed more about the upcoming series in a press release.

“Building on the success of 1000-LB SISTERS, which continues to deliver ratings gold with its highest-rated season ever, TLC today announced its newest transformation series, 1000-LB BEST FRIENDS. Vannessa and Meghan are larger-than-life best friends, and along with their pals Tina and Ashely, they are battling obesity with heart and humor. This gregarious girl gang will embark on a journey of sisterhood, weight loss, and self-discovery. 1000-LB BEST FRIENDS premieres on TLC and discovery+ on Monday, February 7 at 10pm ET/PT.

“The ratings success of 1000-lb Sisters has made one thing clear—our audience loves personal journeys of transformation featuring authentic, bold and very boisterous personalities, which is why we’re excited to introduce this brand-new series, 1000-lb Best Friends,” said Howard Lee, President of TLC Streaming and Network Originals. “This show is about weight loss and leading a healthier lifestyle just as much as it is about a tight-knit group of girlfriends that love to have a good time. By the end of the first episode, viewers will be asking themselves if their friend group has a Vannessa, a Meghan, a Tina or an Ashely.”

Vannessa and Meghan, whom viewers first met on TOO LARGE, were bullied for their weight all the way back in middle school and ever since then, they have had each other’s backs. When Meghan peaked at almost 600-lbs, they decided it was time to take control of their lives and pursue weight loss surgery. Meghan qualified while Vannessa didn’t, however Meghan’s weight loss has stalled out since she went ahead with the surgery. Power comes in numbers and now with Tina and Ashely, they are making a pact and recommitting to their original goal to turn their lives around. Ashely previously underwent weight-loss surgery, but she’s put back on all the weight she lost and is once again pursuing surgery to get back on track. Tina, on the other hand, isn’t ready to take on the risks of surgery, so she plans to lose the excess weight on her own.

From camping to swimming in the ocean, these friends are determined to get out of the sedentary habits that have led them to where they are now. Whether it’s exercise, doctors’ appointments or therapy sessions, they’ll rely on each other to get through it all. But with four big personalities, they are bound to ruffle each other’s feathers. Will the gang be able to overcome their insecurities and self-doubt in time to attend their high school reunion as a fiercely fabulous, united front?”

What do you think? Are you planning to check out 1,000-lb Best Friends on TLC next month?

Sinead O’Connor Reveals Her 17-Year-Old Son Was Found Dead After Going Missing

0

Sinead O’Connor has revealed that her 17-year-old son Shane was found dead after going missing. The singer mourned the loss on Twitter.

“My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God,” she wrote. “May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace”

The tragic news comes after Sinead O’Connor tweeted messages begging for her son to go to a police station and receive help.

“This is a message for my son, Shane,” she wrote. “Shane, it’s not funny any more all this going missing. You are scaring the crap out of me. Could you please do the right thing and present yourself at a Gardai station. If you are with Shane please call the Gardai for his safety.”

“Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing,” she continued. “My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.”

Sinead O’Connor later revealed that Shane had been admitted to the hospital after attempting to end his life twice. “I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight hospital who were supposed to have HCA’s supervise my child 24/7 have managed to let him out of their grasp this morning when 7 days ago he made two severe suicide attempts,” she tweeted.

Shane was one of Sinead O’Connor’s four children. His father was Irish musician Donal Lunny.

RockHouse Live International – Food & Beverage Magazine

0

By Diane Lilli

The music scene went eerily quiet when the Pandemic hit, but business partners Zach Bair and Jock Weaver decided to double down on their love for live music. Already working together on other ventures, such as the music-tech VNUE, which recently streamed an exclusive Rob Thomas Christmas concert, Bair and Weaver took a gamble on a new way of enjoying entertainment.

RockHouse Live International now has three bustling locations, in Clearwater and Key West Florida, and Oxford Mississippi. As promised, on any given night you’ll find great food, cool drinks, and plenty of live music and Karaoke. By adding music technology to their three entertainment and dining venues, the restaurant has easily become the local spot in every one of its locations.

“I envisioned RockHouse Live as a place where you could go see local, regional, and national bands, and have great food based on recipes I had developed throughout my life,” said Bair. “ RockHouse Live first and foremost is a restaurant with a “fun factor,” an entertainment-themed restaurant and bar with the best local, regional, and national music, karaoke, and technologies that make it a notch higher. For example, we are installing VNUE’s Soundstr, our music recognition technology, in each location, to help identify music and ensure artists are paid; and we are installing streaming technology that we have developed to allow any audio or video input to be streamed to not only TVs and speakers in the restaurant but to other RockHouse Live locations.”

With three new spots launched in 2021, the partners are now working on expanding even more, because they’ve seen firsthand how much the public loves music, needs music, and is seeking a venue with a modern twist of technology. The partners see clearly patrons are seeking live entertainment and especially music, plus the chance to get up and dance with families and friends. Part of the charm here is that it’s not just rock n’ roll that can be heard on any given night, but instead, a mix of rock, country, and local sounds.

The connection with locals in each town has resulted in unique architecture, specific food specials plus fan-loved musical artists that have deep roots in their respective locations. In Key West there are three stages, with one on an upper deck overlooking the main drag. Clearwater, the original model for RockHouse Live International, has more of a beach vibe with an outdoor eating area and stage plus a large indoor stage with tons of seating and a bustling bar. Over in Oxford Mississippi, the home of Ole’ Miss, the vibe is full-on sports on game day but seriously music-centric.

Part of the charm of the RockHouse Live International spots is that they employ cutting-edge VNUE technology that can take any live music, offer it as an insta-recording and also live stream to other locations. This new sharing technology is part of VNUE’s proprietary tech library of assets, with Bair leading as the CEO and guiding RockHouse Live International’s music tech profile. VNUE is the exclusive licensor of “instant live” pioneer DiscLive, offering high end collectible products such as CDs, USB drives and laminates, that feature our fully mixed and mastered live concert content. When you add this technology to RHL, it’s a win-win for the patrons and the owners.

The innovations in these new venues now include taking typical music or bar menus and turning them on its head. Patrons can still get their fill of favorites such as wings or burgers but at RockHouse Live, the menu is curated to be more expansive, creative, and fresh. The menu features eighteen different types of wet and dry sauces for their wings and numerous new takes on favorite dishes such as Blackened Gator nachos.

“When we launched Clearwater, we added a bunch of other menu items that were central to Florida, such as gator bites, grouper, and other stuff,” Bair explained. “That menu has now become our core menu and is being used in Oxford along with some local “flavor” as we say, such as our Oxford Rice Bowl. We try to tailor the menu to a degree to each location.”

With fans attending live concerts plus singing at Karaoke events all week, RockHouse Live’s food and beverage category is growing and is a robust growth driver. Happy music lovers get hungry, and this place is ready to please their fans.

The owners said they are now speaking to investors about their next RockHouse Live International locations, that are sure to keep the music alive everywhere their doors open. Weaver, past president of HardRock Cafe and long-time entertainment businessman, complements his partner and tech-savvy musician Bair. Their formula for success is working, and is music to their patrons’ ears.

Bair said the future is bright for the robust growth of RockHouse Live International.

“Our vision is to build RockHouse Live into a global powerhouse brand, and we are already on our way. We have opened our Flagship in Clearwater (April 2020) and both Oxford and Key West in September,” he noted.

Why Hollywood Won't Cast Cuba Gooding Jr. Anymore

There was a time not too long ago when Cuba Gooding Jr. was on top of Hollywood. The ‘90s were good for him — he appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films, including A Few Good Men and As Good as It Gets. The actor took home a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1997 for his role in Jerry Maguire.

But the good times didn’t last for Gooding. The early aughts brought a series of misfires, and the actor was almost completely relegated to a direct-to-DVD wasteland. It might have something to do with his problematic personal life. Here’s why Hollywood won’t cast Cuba Gooding Jr. anymore.

Ahmaud Arbery Mother’s Speaks Out As Murder Trial Begins | News

0

Jury selection begins Monday for the three Georgia men accused in the death of Ahmaud Arbery, more than a year and a half after he was shot dead while jogging through a neighborhood near his home.

Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, has long maintained that her son was targeted and killed by the three men, who are white, because of his race.

“I do think that Ahmaud was murdered because he was Black,” she said in an interview with CBS This Morning. “He was jogging through a predominantly White neighborhood and he was targeted.”

Greg and Travis McMichael, a white father and son, allegedly armed themselves and pursued Arbery, 25, in a pickup truck after seeing him running in their neighborhood outside of Brunswick, Georgia on February 23, 2020.
Following behind, neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan recorded the incident, taking cellphone video of Travis McMichael shooting Arbery at close range with a shotgun. The pair said they believed Arbery was a burglar.

“Everyone that has watched the video simply says that Ahmaud was not doing anything wrong,” Cooper-Jones said.

When asked if she believes an impartial jury can be selected in the three men’s trial, Cooper-Jones admitted she is concerned.

“I have my concerns, being that the jurors will be picked from this community,” she said. “There has been lots of miscommunication in the beginning on what happened on that day, but I’m hopeful that we’ll get the right people in the right place to make the right decision.”

Immediately following the shooting, the McMichaels and Bryan remained free and were not charged until the Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the case. In May 2020, all three were charged with murder and will face trial beginning Feb. 7, 2022.

Additionally, all three men have been indicted on federal hate crime and attempted kidnapping charges.

Cooper-Jones’ attorney Lee Merritt said the jury “should reflect the diversity of the Brunswick community near where this crime happened.”

“Just because you’ve heard about this case, just because you’ve developed an opinion of the case, doesn’t mean that you can’t set that opinion aside and say, ‘I can be fair.’ And that’s the legal standard,” he said.

According to CBS News, jury selection could take more than two weeks as 1,000 people were summoned.

7 Drivers We Want To See in the Twisted Metal TV Show

0

Twisted Metal is a set of games that are synonymous with the PlayStation console, having had several successful entries in the franchise, and now the subject of a forthcoming television show. This car combat series captured fans with its destruction derby-like action, vicious lethality, and dark humor, peaking with its second entry and Black for most fans. Though the games have had memorable tunes, arenas, and endings over the years, their most iconic elements are the vehicles and their handlers.

Each installment doesn’t always feature the same roster of combatants participating in the tournament, keeping the blood fresh. Though several of the vehicles have become mainstays, they often see upgrades, and several of the operators are switched out regularly. This brings in new people with various motivations, all of which want to win the tournament so Calypso will grant their wishes. These car and driver combos aren’t just the characters for the light story; they give Twisted Metal its personality. So, we want to mention a few of the best entrants that would be perfect for the show or a potential corresponding new game.

Minion

It’s unlikely that any new Twisted Metal project gets made without including Sweet Tooth, as he’s on almost all of the merchandising, so we can skip over him, but Calypso could always use some extra muscle: enter Minion.

There isn’t a lot known about Minion’s past, if he even has one, but some speculate his existence is closely intertwined with Sweet Teeth than, but there’s no need to get that complicated early on. Originally though, the creature from Hell lived up to its name, being used by Calypso who had his soul and took some amount of his powers years before. So whenever Minion does eventually break free, he’ll be pissed and ready for revenge.

The former tournament champion is a fan of large missiles and flamethrowers, choosing to roll around in a colossal semi-truck sometimes, but more commonly, a fast and powerful black tank. The XJ-39, sometimes called the “Mind Tank,” is believed to directly link to the driver’s brain, giving them better response times, but likely taking its toll as well. His appearance strikes fear into the hearts of other driver’s and this boss character makes for a powerful enforcer or boogeyman to haunt the war-torn streets.

Thumper

Watch out for this Impala, because the purple low rider has the bass and the flames to use on any unprepared challenger, leaving a trail of carnage and car parts behind. It’s a fierce machine designed for the streets, but capable of navigating any war zone. Thumper isn’t just a Twisted Metal original, but one of the toughest vehicles to ever drive into the contest and even appears as a boss character in one of the later installments.

Bruce Cochrane is an ardent and imposing man with a large gun, held with an itchy trigger finger. His homies are important to him, as is his neighborhood, and Bruce originally joins the bloodbath to get the violence away from his home in South Central L.A. The stakes are raised, though, when his girlfriend is kidnapped, and winning now means getting her back, as well as taking revenge on those who dared to attack him personally like this. Bruce knows how to chill, but not when there’s business to be handled.

Shadow

The vehicle known as Shadow should be a fearful sight because its presence means that the avatar of death is out for revenge. This grim wagon is a long purple hearse with a black top that moves as silently as the grave when it needs to, packing a supernatural punch. The screeching attacks can pass through solid objects, souls from the other side that have been weaponized. Not necessarily good or evil, Shadow and its operator are usually mercenaries for previous victims of the tournaments or others who have been wronged, making this team an agent of chaos on an ever-changing mission.

The primary driver of such a vehicle is exactly who most people would expect to come out of a hearse, Mortimer, a man who appears to be quite old with one foot in the grave, but apparently already died in his mid to late 30s. He’s tall with a long face and white hair, sometimes kept under a big black hat to match his suit and his friend, a dark raven familiar the coroner is often seen with. The man is mysterious, death incarnate, and perfect to keep things interesting.

Outlaw

There are a lot of law enforcement officials who don’t want to see the Twisted Metal tournament take place anymore, considering the death and mayhem it tends to cause, and many of the cops have set their sights on its organizer, Calypso himself. Capturing someone like him was never going to be an easy task and the only way to stop the game might be to play it, but by breaking a few rules: enter Outlaw. This vehicle changes as needed, but is usually a police cruiser, SUV, or even a SWAT van, stacked with guns, rockets, and one huge industrial-strength taser.

Sergeant Carl “Buzz” Roberts and his sister Captain Jamie Roberts are two pissed-off LAPD officers who are trying to set good examples, but the world has gone quite mad. Look at what it has driven them to do. These two have quite the past with Calypso and his dangerous rewards, so they know the score and how tough putting an end to the competition will be, but the question is how much they’re really willing to sacrifice and what lines they’ll cross to close this case.

Darkside

Krista Sparks was a model who was never satisfied with what she had, constantly sabotaging or even disposing of her competition, and always looking for a path to more fame and a bigger runway. After a horrible accident, her face was scarred terribly, but eleven surgeries and a lot of money can do wonders. What remained was a tiny, almost unnoticeable, disfigurement above her lip. This would not do, as Krista still considered herself to be hideous and visited a Dr. Ospylac (read it backward), after decapitating her previous physician, whose answer was to hide the ugliness behind an ivory covering, sealed with magic. Now she was her true self: Dollface.

Krista is the driver of Darkside, a vehicle that matches her inner monster more than it does her demeanor or outward appearance. This is a menacing and huge black semi-truck that makes a loud noise and spits out a thick cloud of smoke when it gets moving. Though it is slow to maneuver, the vehicle is heavily armored and can be deceptively quick when activating its ramming ability, sometimes even using another car as its bumper. No one will want to be in the way when these two come along.

Spectre

Scott Campbell is an actual ghost, so the name of his car is quite appropriate. It’s rumored that he was an early victim of Sweet Tooth and his tragic demise has left him wandering the Earth, looking for a way to be whole again, so the murdered man can return to his wife and newborn child. The obvious choice seems to be to enter and win the Twisted Metal tournament. Calypso is powerful enough to make his wish happen, for Scott to get his life back, but nothing is ever quite that simple and who knows if the man with the burned face can be trusted. But what does Scott have to lose if he’s already dead?

The car he drives is a sporty Chevrolet Corvette, complete with racing stripes, as it’s an incredibly fast and easy-to-handle vehicle. The ghost missile it uses also goes through solid objects, but it has some homing capabilities as well, giving the operator a devastating attack. Spectre has almost always had different drivers, so it’s possible that once Scott accomplishes his goals or his killer is brought to justice, the car could move on to someone else, changing things up a bit.

Roadkill

Marcus Kane is one of the more developed characters in the franchise, but he might have also become too complicated when it’s revealed that his split personality is actually Needles Kane, otherwise known as Sweet Tooth. He’s a troubled man with many mental issues who just wants to wake up from the dream, so this doesn’t have to be true (what is real?), depending on how the story is told. At one point, Kane even seems to realize that he might know he’s a character in the game. In some instances though, Marcus is a likable character, which is rare in Twisted Metal, and his past as a tortured soul almost makes him easier to relate to.

His car – when he isn’t driving Minion – is Roadkill, an old junker that has been rebuilt and armored up constantly with spare parts, but was modeled on a Chevrolet Camero SS in the 2012 game. A perfect ride, visually at least, for someone who has been living in their vehicle and has to use whatever they can find in the scrapyard for resources and weapons. It’s a versatile and well-rounded automobile, however, this combo is not to be underestimated, and could be the closest thing to a hero we have.
