Here in LA, it seems as though we are the city of thrift stores. With so many to choose from this is my list for the best thrift stores in LA. Many times they are filled with various types of clothes from all walks of life. Whether it be Armani or athleisure, you’re looking for – scan down the article to see the thrift store I deem worthy to be listed among the best thrift stores in the city of fashion savvy angles.
BUFFALO EXCHANGE’S THRIFT STORES LOS ANGELES
With three different locations in LA, as well as other locations excited shoppers head to Buffalo Exchange for secondhand steals. Buying, selling, and trading new and used clothing take place at most of the location. So, if you have an old cool shirt, trade it in for store cash or credit. Pick through the racks of used goodies and you might find that outfit to make all your friends say, “Cool. Where did you find that outfit?”, and you say, “Can’t tell you!” Don’t be left out of the fashion heard, giddy up down to Buffalo Exchange.
Santa Monica, Melrose, and Sherman Oaks
OUT OF THE CLOSET’S THRIFT STORES LOS ANGELES
Out of the Closet probably has a location near you. This popular thrift store is a source for on-trend modern clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, and home goods. The greatest part of the shopping experience is 96¢ of each dollar donated to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which offers free HIV testing and pharmaceutical services for more than 1,673,000 patients.
THE LEFT BANK’S THRIFT STORES LOS ANGELES
The Left Bank epitomizes the LA style scene oozing quirkiness with a variety of vintage clothes and accessories, ranking it as one of the best clothing thrift stores in LA. They offer buy-sell-trade options along with racks containing high-end designer pieces, gorgeous vintage clothes, recycled fashion clothes, and affordable items. They are ready to remake your home with a stylish home goods section.
East Hollywood
BEACON HOUSE THRIFT IN LOS ANGELES
Beacon House Thrift has to be one of the best furniture thrift stores in the city. They have furniture, hardware, tools, sports equipment, electronics, household goods, books, and clothing, as well as everything you need for your bedroom. The items are donations with all profits being used to fund a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. The thrift store offers employment and work experience included within the recovery program, which has saved over 1,000 people.
San Pedro / Long Beach
TROVE’S THRIFT STORES
With high-end brands such as Zara to Prada, Trove claims to be one of the trendiest thrift stores in the Los Angeles area. They offer the option to shop or consign new and used clothes, accessories, home goods, art, and more. Easily, they are one of the best thrift stores in LA and probably the world.
Science states: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it has fallen to the dark side we know as trendy. In LA Brunch is more social gathering than protein infusion. Throw a rock in DTLA, and you might hit at least five breakfast spots. Afterward, you will be arrested for vandalism, so throw small pebbles. The morning munching collective must learn to weave through the collection of She, She foreign cuisine or mom-and-pop slop shops that roam the outskirts of the city. It’s a wise strategy to research the destination of your pre afternoon dining delight. Due to the fact some of the places have lines that rival Disney on bustling Sunday mornings. Here are my favorite breakfast spots in the city of hungry angels. Bon appetite.
HUGE TREE PASTRY
This Silver Lake eatery offers original Taiwanese breakfast delights such as purple rice fan tuan and daikon rice cakes served from 8 am to 11 am. Towering thousand-layer pancakes stuffed, full of basil and cheese, with a variety of dishes from Highland Park’s Joy on York, are available. The DTLA outside patio has open-air seating blessed with a wonderful central location. If you a running late you can turn breakfast into Brunch at this breakfast treasure.
S&W COUNTRY DINER
If you are missing the Mom and Dad eateries; this downtown Culver City spot is the place to be. A little forewarning – this is a cash only establishment. Enjoy biscuits and gravy along with country-fried steak, which are popular staples to be enjoyed with a piping hot medium roast. The platter-sized chocolate chips or blueberry pancakes will also fill your tummy with joy and comfort. The throwback, retro ambiance, and everyday people patronage make one feels they are outside the plastic city with all its pretty, wanna-be stars. The locals’ only spot has become one of my favorites.
COFAX COFFEE HOUSE
Hello – burritos is a breakfast food! The bright blue-and-white café brings one a new way to enjoy breakfast. Protein is the word that best describes this eatery. Stuffed smoked potatoes, meaty chorizo, and Bludso’s hot links will fill you up to the point of contentment saddled with Cofax’s salsa on the side. The location rests on Fairfax which offers an interesting backdrop. Only a few seats are often available, so you might want to take a burrito to-go.
HOMESTATE
Los Angele’s best Tex-Mex spot specializes in Texas-sized breakfasts. The queso, breakfast tacos, and Migas are closer than one might hope. Yellow clouds of scrambled eggs are piled into either corn or flour tortillas filled with whatever your heart desires. The casual atmosphere allows you to ease back, while sipping on a frozen margarita, Paloma, or ranch water, topped off with Topo Chico, tequila, and lime—making the afternoon a lot easier. Wine, beer, and cocktails are also available. There are five locations across the city – Hollywood, Highland Park, Playa Vista, Pasadena, and Sherman Oaks.
PANN’S
The historic diner offers one of the best 24/7 breakfasts spots, with its high-quality service keeps the morning rumbling stomachs returning to delicious plates of heaven, ever since their first dollar was earned back in 1958. It’s very convenient for fliers in and out of LAX. The breakfast spot is part of Los Angele’s treasure past – you’re eating history. One might even say: they rival the fried chicken and waffles from their iconic rival Roscoe’s. The portions will fill you up – allowing a nice nap on your outgoing flight.
Seems like Summer time is all the time in the city of Angeles. But we have Summer here as well. There are many events that locals and tourist can attend in the city that seems to sleep by 10 pm. From roof tops to beaches, Los Angeles has it all. Besides Malibu, Hollywood, and Disney there are other spots to witness. Here are my favorites.
HOLLYWOOD FOREVER CEMETERY
Before the first cemetery showing brings the movie buffs to Hollywood Forever with folding chairs, picnic blankets, snack spreads, and plenty of alcohol, it isn’t summer in Los Angeles until one checks out a flick with the undead. Each Summer – Cinespia visits the revered resting places of legendary actors, starring in vintage cult classics. It’s a must-do in Los Angeles, a classic summer ritual, and one of the best movie events in the city.
HOLLYWOOD BOWL
The real wow factor is the incredible setting—the Hollywood Bowl is nestled in a natural amphitheater in the Hollywood Hills. This means a cool breeze and a stunning view of the city skyline will be witnessed from the top of the bowl. Plus, you can take a leisurely stroll around the grounds taking in the stars shining from above. For the movie buffs, the Hollywood Bowl is also one of the most popular filming locations in the area. From Grease to Star Trek, there are too many episodes from classic TV and movies that have been filmed there.
LA PHILHARMONIC
In 1922, the LA Philharmonic staged its first concert at this beautiful outdoor amphitheater, and it has been hosting concerts ever since. The show boasts a stellar summer lineup (ranging from Sondheim songs to Disney movies) and has a pretty liberal BYOB policy that lets you bring your own wine or beer to every performance. So come down and enjoy the sounds with a nice glass of vino taking in the LA evening ambiance with the hypnotizing sounds from the orchestra.
ROOFTOP CINEMA CLUB
For a second season of showings in Downtown Los Angeles and the Arts District, the masters of rooftop movie viewing are back. Rooftop Cinema Club was the original series to come to town with a second-to-none outdoor setup. You can watch from comfortable chairs with the audio piped in over wireless headphones. Rooftop Cinema Club is known for its excellent film selections and a steady supply of snacks and alcohol. So, enjoy yourself with the movie and DTLA air.
EL MATADOR BEACH
El Matador is unquestionably the most gorgeous section of shoreline in America. It is a small, lovely stretch of sand dominated by rocky outcrops. The western Malibu beach is only reachable via a steep gravel route from a paid parking lot. So, shoes are mandatory and don’t carry too much stuff. It is the ideal place to spread your towel next to the rocks. Warning there are no lifeguards or other services, so be careful during high tide. Get there early for a spectacular Sunrise.
Ever since Marylin Monroe – Hollywood has always celebrated the newest starlets on the rise. Their beauty and talent make them eye candy for the average filmgoer, keeping their eyes glued to the screen. We as movie lovers will always revere the new crop of talented lovely’s to grace the studio system. Here are my top 5 new actresses on the rise in the movie industry.
TALIA RYDER
Talia Ryder has done everything from indies to Blockbuster films. She gambled on her herself. At the ripe young age of 13, she begged her mother to audition for Matilda the Musical on Broadway. That would be her breakout role-playing Hortensia. The role won her critical acclaim at the Sundance film festival for her role in Never Rarely Sometimes Always. Afterward, the talented actress was cast in West Side Story. Ryder’s career is at the beginning stages, yet she proved that she has the goods to make it in Tinseltown. Her next role is Joy Womack in Joika. Her star is burning brightly.
JENNA ORTEGA
After ten years in the game, Jenna Ortega rose to fame playing a young Jane Villanueva in CW’s series Jane the Virgin. The Latina actress has worked with some of the biggest studios in Hollywood. She has started her career in The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Scream. After acting in more than fifteen television series and blockbuster movies, Ortega has proven to be a veteran thespian on the silver and small screen. Her future projects include Ti West’s X. Wednesday Addams was the star of the Netflix series Wednesday, which gained her international notoriety. She will be a household fixture in no time.
NICOLE KANG
Known for her role as Poison Ivy in the third season of Batwoman — Nicole Kang is starting to become a household name. Spurred on by a professor, she rolled the dice — changing from accounting to acting at NYU. The gamble paid off beautifully. You might have seen Kang in the Netflix hit series You. She also won best-supporting actor at the Vancouver Horror Show for Ten Minutes To Midnight. Nicole Kang is steadily on her way to becoming a force in the show biz. She is changing hats and producing the short film Jack and Jane as well as her own project in June. Keep your eyes peeled for this woman of many talents.
MELISSA BARRERA
Melissa Barrera’s career is an impressive one. She attended the Collaborative Arts Project 21 as part of the Tisch School of Arts at NYU, afterward gaining major attention during her time on La Academia of TV Azteca and recently in the Heights, and Scream. Barrera was the face of Mexican television where she earned critical acclaim for her acting, landing leading roles while winning awards during her theatre stints. Barrera’s slated to play the lead role in Carmen coming to a theater near you.
SANIYYA SIDNEY
As a teenager – Saniyya Sidney has worked with the industry’s most respected actors and directors including – Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, and Viola Davis as well as others. She has won the SAG award for Best Ensemble and lead in Amy Belafonte’s – The Passage. The young actress has taken on challenging roles that allow her talents to shine. Saniyya recently played the role of Venus Williams in King Richard with Will Smith. The talented young starlet is going to portray Sasha Obama in The First Lady. The girl is no Joke. Get ready for the next of the best.

Tomorrow (Friday, June 9), Lana Del Rey’s father, Rob Grant, releases his debut solo album, Lost at Sea. Today, Grant has shared his sixth preview of the LP, and it’s another collaboration with his daughter. Listen to Rob Grant and Lana Del Rey’s new song, “Hollywood Bowl,” below.
Del Rey opens “Hollywood Bowl” by singing, “I know I’m not Joni Mitchell, but I’ve got a dad who plays like Billy Joel,” alluding to her father’s work as a self-trained pianist. She co-produced the single with Laura Sisk, Zach Dawes, and frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff.
