Cassian Andor: Diego Luna Confirms Disney+ Series Has Begun Filming
In a recent appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live, Narcos: MexicoĀ alum Diego Luna has confirmed that production has already started on Disney+ās upcoming Star Wars spinoff series in London. Without revealing any major spoilers, Luna also teased that the Cassian Andor series will help fans have a much better understanding of Rogue One. Check out the full interview below!
āItās basically everything you have to know to understandĀ Rogue One,ā Luna said. āThe story of the character before. I can spoil the ending I guess!ā
He added,Ā āItās nice to go into a story you already know the ending. Now you can take the nuances and the layers. I think itās fun to do something that isnāt just about getting to the end. Itās about delaying that.ā

The series will follow the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events ofĀ Rogue One.Ā The spy thriller series will explore tales of espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.

The cast for the series is set to feature the returns of Luna, Genevieve OāReilly, Denise Gough, Stellan SkarsgĆ„rd, Kyle Soller and Adria Arjona, with Alan Tudyk expected to return as Cassianās droid sidekick K-2SO. While character details for Gough and Arjonaās roles are currently being kept under wraps, OāReilly is set to return to her role of Republic senator and co-founder and leader of the Rebel Alliance Mon Mothma after first appearing inĀ Star Wars: Episode IIIĀ ā Revenge of the SithĀ in a non-speaking role and then a more prominent supporting turn inĀ Rogue One. She was also voiced by OāReilly inĀ Star Wars Rebels and Kath Soucie inĀ Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The Cassian Andor will be executive produced by Tony Gilroy, who previously directed the reshoots forĀ Rogue One.Ā Gilroy was originally expected to direct the three episodes but was forced to give up the position to Black Mirrorās Toby Haynes due to pandemic-related travel issues. However, he will still remain as the seriesā showrunner and executive producer.

InĀ Rogue One, a group of unlikely heroes bands together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empireās ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Luna starred alongside Felicity Jones in the film with Mads Mikkelsen,Ā Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen,Ā Riz Ahmed, plusĀ Forest Whitaker andĀ Ben Mendelsohn. It remains to be seen if any of these characters will appear in the series.
