In Part Three of the Venice Sho-Line Crips series, Kay Kay breaks down the Grape Street Watts Crips and Neighborhood Rollin 60 Crips conflict in the Marvista Gardens Projects in Culver City during the 1980s, and why the Venice Shorelines left. Newspaper articles pretty much confirm Kay Kay’s accounts as accurate historical facts.
In 1982 the projects was 49% Mexican, 30% Black, 14% White, 7% Oriental, Samoan, Alaskan, and Pacific Islanders.
The Sholines also talk about Teena Marie, High School Football games and Muscle Beach at Venice Beach in the 70s and early 80s when they encountered Raymond Washington, Tookie, and the Rollin 60s.
