It’s very important to find a place to decompress in the city of Angeles. Sometimes the stress of daily living and the hellacious traffic can make life in the state with Earthquakes and Paris Hilton, harder than it looks on those post cards with a bird’s eyes view of Santa Monica. I have found peace in some very cool places – that I would like to share with you. The reader. I know that’s not your name, but what else do I call you? Here are my top 5 Veg out places.

Redondo Beach

Understand this. The beach is a way of life out here in the city of million dollar air B & B. The Beach is king. The beach is also open 24 hours a day. Most of the more popular beaches have a continuous flow of tourist and unemployed locals. I found Redondo beach is my safe place, or better yet safe beach. On a week day it is empty, but you can enjoy the same waves and sun as the other beaches without the pretentious surfers or hard core volley – ball death matches. Parking is easy and cheap. So go fix your tan in the sands of Dondo Dude.

The Getty

If music and art are your huckleberry, look no further than the beautifully, modern confines of the Getty Museum, curated by the Getty family. Yes, the oil people. Parking is around 8 dollars – maybe more now, but you get an exciting tram ride with an exclusive view of the Sepulveda pass. Have fun staring at traffic. Once you reach the Getty, it’s a quiet land within the 405 chaos.

You can listen to Jazz while drinking a coffee – gorging yourself on something sweet. Afterwards, go inside and look at the art from people you don’t really know. It’s a beautiful trek, if you want a peaceful day, with pretty people, at a sanctuary sitting high above the glass and steel madness. You will have to join when done starting at pictures.

Los Angeles Library

Out of all the libraries, I have been to in these great united states – the LA Public Library is one of the grandest. You could get lost in a place like this. The multi – leveled structure has rooms throughout the bottom floor to explore. The selection of books and movies is monstrous – to say the least. You can grab a book, and then sit on the second floor watching other people read. Which sounds strange if you say it out loud. It is surprisingly peaceful space inside. You can waste the day away checking out your favorite writer – downtown.

The Huntington

Located in San Marino, this famous LA landmark seemed only enjoyed by the locals, but is an admitted treat. You want to Veg? Do it around Vegetation. See how I did that? The beautiful Japanese inspired structures take you to a wonderland you would find outside of Tokyo. Winding fields, and hills dotted with various exotic plants, and trees with miles of bridges and trails that lead to peaceful adventures. No worry will cross your mind once you traverse the trails cutting through small tranquil forest, cloaking interesting artwork and architecture influenced by the awe inspiring country of Nippon. It’s rather reasonable at 20 dollars per person. Or you can go alone, but don’t forget the Coy Lake.

The fished want to see you.

Griffith Observatory

The Griffith as the Angelinos call it – is a better place to veg out at night. Whether indoors or outdoors, the view from the Observatory or the hill it sits on, will give your eyes and soul inspiration and solitude. Visual depressurization I call it. You can check out the sky and stars from inside, while outside you can check out the lights of the city which seems to be its own celestial body. It’s a slice of silence, as you join the others on top of the hills, looking as they peer down quietly. Everyone trying to find something, but it does not matter. It’s all glorious. If you want peaceful vegging – go close to Sunset and climb – up or drive – driving is probably better
