Is it “case closed” for this show? Has the Burden of Truth TV series been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season on CBC and The CW? The television vulture is watching all the latest cancellation and renewal news, so this page is the place to track the status of Burden of Truth, season five. Bookmark it, or subscribe for the latest updates. Remember, the television vulture is watching your shows. Are you?
Airing on The CW television network in the United States, Burden of Truth stars Kristin Kreuk, Peter Mooney, Star Slade, Meegwun Fairbrother, Anwen O’Driscoll, Brynn Godenir, Paul Essiembre, and Skye Pelletier. The series centers on attorney Joanna Chang (Kreuk) and her partner in law and in life, Billy Crawford (Mooney). In season four, a mining company reopens a dormant mine outside Millwood and new parents Joanna and Billy step in to protect a local woman’s home from certain destruction. When the mine swiftly retaliates, Joanna is forced to confront a long-buried secret from her past and scramble to protect the future of her career and her family.
The fourth season of Burden of Truth averages a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 341,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 33% in the demo and down by 32% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Find out how Burden of Truth stacks up against other CW TV shows.
We don’t have to wonder if CBC or The CW will cancel Burden of Truth since it’s already been announced that season four is the end. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. Subscribe for free alerts on Burden of Truth cancellation or renewal news.
What do you think? Do you think that the Burden of Truth TV show should be renewed for a fifth season on CBC and The CW?

This is Nice to Meet You, for all your need-to-know information on the need-to-get-to-know new voices in pop culture. Think of it as a blind date, if the date were cooler than anyone you’ll ever go out with. Allow us to break the ice— we promise you’ll fall in love.
SOMI’s path to fame is not novel—in fact, it’s a time-honored tradition in the pop world—but her unique approach to stardom certainly is. The Ontario-born, Seoul-raised musician got her start by winning a TV talent competition, joined a musical group, and, as we’ve seen, easing the pains of young heartbreak with a record-shattering solo career. At 20 years old, SOMI is the embodiment of everything that the world loves best about her two homelands— a sugary sweetness that is distinctly Canadian, combined with the winking charm that is a must-have for any K Pop artist. In the midst of her jam-packed schedule, the singer-songwriter-actress-model (her endorsements include the likes of Nintendo, Fanta, and Shiseido) took a moment to talk to Interview about her latest single “Dumb Dumb” and the joy of digging into a big, cheesy helping of lasagna after a long day in the studio. — MEGAN HULLANDER
———
On her latest single “Dumb Dumb”: We came up with the song spontaneously on the spot— actually first in English. We left it at that for a while. Then, after finishing up my album, we went back to that song and decided that we needed to add a drop—to make it more dance-y. Fun fact, the original lyric was “Imma say it like it is/ cut the bullsh*t/ you dumb dumb.”
On the inspiration for “Dumb Dumb”: I really wanted a song that had a plot twist that could inspire some signature choreography. Because my two previous singles were about storytelling, I wanted to have my own dance. That was the approach.
On staying active, even during her time off: I go out shopping, driving, skydiving, and I love any outdoor activity.
On her childhood favorite musicians: It has to be Cyndi Lauper, Rihanna, and 2NE1.
On making the music video for “Dumb Dumb”: I was there from the first meeting with the director. I thought it would be fun to go blonde. We wanted to come up with scenes to match the innocent but confident girl described in the lyrics. I also participated in the casting with the director, and I think it turned out perfectly— from the male lead, to the girl who plays the young SOMI, to my friends.

On her favorite meals: Big, fat, cheesy lasagna and Chung Gook Jang.
On what she’s listening to: “Dumb Dumb.” I get so much joy out of watching all my fans doing the dance challenge, and seeing all the content they’re making with the song.
On cheese: The older the better.
On embracing her special-ness: I used to get called some names growing up. I struggled to get over it, and finally I started to embrace who I am. If anything, I feel special now.
On her Canadian dream team: Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Beiber. All Canadians.
On playing dress-up, but making it fashion: I like to dress up for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. Last year I dressed up as a Christmas tree! I like to have fun with my outfits! Just for myself… I get a kick out of it. People say it’s too much sometimes but I know they love it on the inside.
On her latest splurge: Vintage beads. I like making my own bracelets.
On the longstanding cats versus dogs debate: I have a black cat named ZORRO but I can converse better with dogs.
This is yet another Vday MVid. Random pictures of weddings some celebrity some not. The couples I like I posted twice. Yesterday a friend of mine posted this song and I had not heard it in forever and I remembered how much I love it. This version is not very popular but this is the version my husband and I danced to at our wedding.
So here it is ” When I Say I Do ” Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore.

Last week, Mayor de Blasio announced that New York will require proof of vaccination for anyone going into restaurants and gyms or attending indoor performances, an effort to squash rising case numbers — and incentivize New Yorkers to get vaxxed.
The mandate — which requires would-be patrons to show their paper vaccine card, the state’s Excelsior Pass, or the city’s NYC Covid Safe app proving that they’ve had at least one dose — first takes effect on August 16, also known as this Monday. On that day, all restaurants are supposed to start checking vaccine status, although the full enforcement of the policy won’t actually start until September 13. The month in between, the New York Times explains, is supposed to be a kind of “grace period” for establishments to “figure out how to follow the new mandate.”
But so far, the city hasn’t released much in the way of details. For example: How the policy will be enforced? What are the penalties if a restaurant doesn’t check vaccine status? And who’s responsible for the checking? The city hasn’t said. When I contacted the mayor’s office to ask them these questions, a spokesperson said only that there will be more information in “the coming days and weeks.”
Even before the mandate, a growing number of restaurants were individually requiring all would-be patrons be vaxxed, an admirable but piecemeal system that left employees to deal with disgruntled customers. The mandate won’t change that part, but at least in theory, it should give workers some backup. “The fact that it’s not just me saying that, it’s a whole body government, gives me some support,” one East Village bartender told Grub Street when the news was announced last week.
The mandate, though, only makes an impact if restaurants have to actually follow it. Given that it’s an effort to curb the spread of a virus that has rendered normal life mostly unlivable, one might think that it would be easy to convince people to follow through on their own. As we have seen, however, we cannot make such assumptions.

“I don’t need to drink. I don’t need to sleep. There is nothing on This Side that I need.” He raised his eyes to mine. “Except you.”
It’s been too long since we’ve lost ourselves in one of our favourite themes – a paranormal romance featuring angels and demons. They’re our catnip, so, imagine our excitement when we saw one of our favourite authors was dipping her toe into the paranormal realm in The Sinner!
“Years of loneliness. Years – no, lifetimes of it. Wanting you. Waiting for you. You were taken from me and I’m not going to give you up again.”
We were beside ourselves, but also a little apprehensive, wondering how this author was going to pull off her foray into one of our favourite genres. Well, we needn’t have worried because Emma Scott absolutely nailed it! Although pure fantasy, it’s essential to build the world and have the reader believe it. We already know we must suspend reality, but we must ‘believe’ the world the author is taking us into, and you know what? We absolutely did! This book was amazing!
“I’d like to think that even in Oblivion, there will be a part of me that remembers loving you, and I’ll know peace at last.”
Set in the present with flashbacks through history, Emma Scott created a forbidden and achingly believable soulmate love that spoke to our hearts on every level. Weaving the theme of reincarnation gave us much comfort and food for thought, in a love story that transcended time. The vivid details and imagery – the love, the pain, and the horror were so incredibly detailed and researched, we felt as though Lucy and Casziel’s love story unfolded before our eyes.
“I’ve loved you for a hundred lifetimes, Lucy.”
Lucy Dennings is a shy woman, lacking in confidence, living quite the solitary life – watching from the periphery – forever feeling as though something is missing in her life, and believing those little voices in her head that constantly berate her about being unworthy. Little did Lucy know exactly what or who was missing and she was about to learn things about herself she would never believe.
We fell instantly in love with Casziel Abisare. Emma Scott wrote this character to perfection. A man who had paid the price for the soul aching love and lonely existence. Cas’s cutting sarcastic wit, his impatience, and his intolerance of humans gave us both a good giggle. He encapsulated everything we love about the fallen angel/demon character. And his love for Lucy? Swoon!!!
“I’ve loved you too long and too hard to give you up. But I tried. For your sake and mine, I tried.”
We were totally captivated by The Sinner. Emma Scott fed all our desires and more. The romance, passion, suspense, and imagination had us gripped from page one. What a brilliant and versatile author to deliver such a clever and captivating story on her first PNR attempt! The first of many we hope!
“Do you believe in second chances, Lucy Dennings? For even the worst sinners?”
Now, you’re probably thinking ‘if they loved it that much, why not a 5 star?’ Our only gripe in an otherwise perfect story was the second epilogue. We felt it was unnecessary, and for us, a part of it negated an aspect of the story that was so important. It won’t bother some people, but it did affect us and had us questioning a part of the theme of the story. However, there’s no doubt, we LOVED THIS BOOK!
“Grief is not love. Grief is penance for living after love has died.”
