Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein Eyes Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac, & More

0

Fresh off of his Oscar-winning take on Pinocchio, Guillermo del Toro is ready for his next live-action film, with Deadline reporting that Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth are all in talks to star in del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein for Netflix.

The film will see del Toro write and direct the feature, with Deadline noting that he is currently writing the script and hasn’t officially given any offers to any actors. However, the report mentions that the legendary filmmaker has met with all three actors and each of them is on board to star, should an offer be made.

Del Toro’s Frankenstein has been in development for some time and seems like a perfect match for the director, who has always explored the world of horror throughout many of his films. It’s currently unclear whether or not his take on the iconic Mary Shelley story will be set as a period piece or will be a modern-day tale, nor who would be playing Doctor Frankenstein and his creation. However, Mia Goth is said to be eyed for the role of Doctor Frankenstein’s love interest.

Oscar Isaac most recently starred in the HBO series Scenes From a Marriage, as well as the Marvel Studios Disney+ series Moon Knight. He’ll also play writer Kurt Vonnegut in the upcoming Amazon limited series Helltown.

Andrew Garfield most recently starred in the critically acclaimed crime series Under the Banner of Heaven and is also set to star alongside Florence Pugh in the upcoming film We Live in Time.

Mia Goth’s history in horror has been a busy one, as she recently starred in the A24 horror film X, its prequel Pearl, and will star in the third entry in the series, MaXXXine. She also led 2023’s Infinity Pool alongside Alexander Skarsgård.

As for del Toro, the filmmaker’s latest film, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, was a stop-motion reimagining of the classic Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. The film earned massive praise and just recently won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, as well as a litany of other awards. Prior to that, he directed the 2021 film Nightmare Alley, as well as 2017’s The Shape of Water, which went on to win Best Picture at the 90th Academy Awards.

Rina Sawayama was a guest on the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but she didn’t perform. She sat down with Jimmy Fallon in her first late-night talk show interview to discuss her appearance in the new movie John Wick: Chapter 4, performing concerts for huge audiences, sustaining injuries while training for the film, and more. Watch it all happen below.

She told Fallon that John Wick: Chapter 4 director Chad Stahelski told Sawayama that he and Keanu Reeves considered her for the part because of the video she created for “Bad Friend.” “I would love to more,” she said. “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’d love to do more.” She also, of course, spoke about dogs.

Ryan Reynolds Gives Free Guy 2 Update

0

Nearly two years after the release of 2021’s Free Guy, the film’s star, Ryan Reynolds, has talked about the current possibility of a sequel. While speaking with Variety, Reynolds entertained the idea of a Free Guy sequel, but suggested that not every movie needs to have a follow-up.

“There is the potential to do a sequel to Free Guy, which would be fun. I would love it. But also like, does everything f–king have to be a sequel? I don’t know,” Reynolds stated. “Sometimes it’s OK to just do a movie and have it kick ass and then everyone go home.”

The actor also explained that a movie should validate itself, rather than require a sequel to do so.

“So you know, there’s a bit of a push and pull there, resisting the urge to just immediately say, ‘Ohh, doing a sequel will validate the first one.’ No, the first movie validates the first one and then you can leave it at that. So I don’t know, we’re still talking about it,” Reynolds said.

Free Guy was directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger ThingsNight at the Museum franchise) from a script written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn, based on a story by Lieberman. It was produced by Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, and Adam Kolbrenner, with Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Dan Levine, and Michael Riley McGrath serving as executive producers.

This past weekend, EDM Twitter and people on Reddit begged for clarification from Insomniac, the state of Florida, or Okeechobee regarding the death of Nguyen. “Out of respect to those affected by this tragedy,” the statement reads, “we have refrained from commenting prematurely. We will continue to provide our full support to the authorities, who are determining the cause [of death].”

Attack of the Meth Gator Poster Previews The Asylum’s New Mockbuster

0

Following the success of Cocaine Bear at the box office, film distributor The Asylum is back again, this time with a mockbuster titled Attack of the Meth Gator.

It’s unclear exactly what the new film will feature in terms of plot, but judging by the title of the film, there will be an alligator high on meth attacking folks throughout. So far, all that The Asylum has released is a poster for the upcoming film, but its IMDB page does list the cast, which includes Ray Acevedo, Christopher Applegate, Gus Langley, Stuart Maxheimer, and Bruce Peoples, to name a few. It is directed by Christopher Ray from a script by Lauren Pritchard and Joe Roche.

Check out the poster for Attack of the Meth Gator below:

For those familiar with The Asylum, this should come as no surprise, as the distributor often releases films to go along with other major blockbusters, this time targeting the recently released Cocaine Bear. Previous films from The Asylum include the Sharknado series, the Syfy original series Z Nation, and more recently, mockbusters of Thor: Love and Thunder, Bullet Train, and Avatar: The Way of Water.
